All about the L&T and NVIDIA partnership

The project aims to build sovereign, scalable, gigawatt-scale AI data centre infrastructure powered by NVIDIA technology.

The partnership will serve Indian businesses, policymakers, industry leaders, global customers, and analysts who need large-scale, production-ready AI capacity based in India.

The venture will combine L&T’s expertise in engineering and infrastructure with NVIDIA’s AI technologies, including GPUs, CPUs, networking, AI software, and advanced storage systems.

The goal is to help organisations adopt AI quickly and securely. It will build AI-ready data centres and advanced computing platforms to support large-scale AI use across key sectors.

In line with the IndiaAI Mission, the project will create sovereign AI infrastructure.

This means critical data, AI models, and workloads can be developed, trained, and deployed within India, while still being connected to global technology ecosystems.

The infrastructure will support Indian needs as well as global hyperscalers, cloud providers, and enterprises looking to run large AI operations from India.

The venture plans to develop a gigawatt-scale AI data centre campus to handle high-density, next-generation AI workloads.

It will expand NVIDIA GPU clusters at its Chennai data centre up to 30 MW capacity at a 300-acre, scalable campus. It will also build a new 40 MW data centre in Mumbai, which is currently under development.

Through this initiative, L&T aims to build AI factories at a national scale, designed to keep data in India, optimised for high-performance computing, and ready to serve both domestic and global AI demand, supporting the vision of “Making AI in India and Making AI Work for India.”
