Reliance Jio launches Jio Frames

Reliance's Non-Executive Director, Akash Ambani, introduced the new Jio Frames at the Reliance AGM, saying, “Jio Frames is an AI-powered wearable platform, an ecosystem made for India with support for multiple Indian languages.”

“It is a hands-free, AI-powered companion designed for the way India lives, works and plays,” he added.

During the AGM, Ambani further shared that Jio Frames can capture HD pictures, record videos, and even go live on social media.

All the pictures and videos clicked on the new Jio Frames are automatically saved on the company's Jio AI Cloud.

Features of Jio Frames

The sleek eyewear comes with in-built, open-ear speakers that can be used to take meetings, listen to music, enjoy podcasts, and even take calls.

Jio’s artificial intelligence model helps users obtain instant answers about the tasks they are performing. For instance, Jio Frames can provide a step-by-step guide while cooking or even get a summary of a book that the user is reading. Meanwhile, Jio also announced new features for Jio AI Cloud, including natural language search, which also works in Indian languages. However, it has not been revealed yet how many languages it will support.

The service also categorises images into separate categories by leveraging AI. For instance, a picture of a receipt automatically goes in the bills folder, and a scanned document, such as an Aadhaar card, goes in the identity documents folder.

Jio also unveiled a new Jio Create Hub that allows users to “Turn simple photographs into shareable reels, collages, or promo videos.”

The company showcased how shopkeepers would be able to create professional product reels in minutes, or a parent would be able to compile a family album with just a simple click.

The feature will soon be released with more details.
