As the world moves into a new phase of digitization—powered by artificial intelligence, automations, and cloud computing—the demand for companies and teams that can tangibly help businesses adapt to and integrate these digital tools has become all the more important.

Founded by Lalit Arora and Dimpy Arora in 2020, Melonleaf Consulting is an Information Technology company that helps them do exactly that.

It offers digital technology consulting, implementation, and information technology services to global clients, SMEs, and enterprises of all sizes.

“At Melonleaf Consulting, helping the customer save costs on their business operations while improving the quality of their digital infrastructure is of paramount importance. This is something that has continued to distinguish us in the sea of other IT players,” Lalit Arora, co-founder of Melonleaf Consulting, tells Startup Pedia in an exclusive interview.

As an end-to-end Information Technology company with its base in Gurugram, India, Melonleaf Consulting has witnessed year-on-year growth in terms of annual revenue.

While in FY22, it recorded a revenue of Rs 2 crore, the firm expanded to a revenue of Rs 7 crore in FY25.

HOW IT ALL BEGAN

Hailing from Delhi, Lalit Arora completed his engineering degree in B.Tech from the DIT University. He also secured admission to BITS Pilani to undertake his M.Tech degree.

Just like most engineering graduates, Lalit landed a typical software development role in a company. But he was not one to stay stagnant: he gained extensive experience and switched between companies like Coforge, Blackstone, and Deloitte.

“Three years into my career, I decided to explore the space of Salesforce. It is the global leading cloud-based CRM tool. I understood its intricacies and eventually became a Salesforce Technical Architect,” entrepreneur Lalit says.

As a Salesforce Technical Architect and executive-level strategic advisor, Lalit Arora secured roles in companies like Paytm, PureSoftware, and various Fortune 500 companies and helped them with technical design, security, implementation, and optimization of Salesforce solutions.

By 2020, he decided to start his own Information Technology company and cater to global clients.

“I discussed the plan with Dimpy Arora, who is my wife. She has extensive experience as an IT professional and is a Salesforce Technical Architect. She has worked for clients like Samsung, Goibibo, and UHG and companies like Deloitte and Virtusa. She resonated with the plan and joined me as my co-founder,” startup founder Lalit Arora tells Startup Pedia.

They quit their jobs and launched Melonleaf Consulting in 2020.

Since the very beginning, entrepreneurs Lalit Arora and Dimpy Arora focused on garnering a clientele based outside India. They wanted their service-based IT company and startup to have the ability to generate employment in India while contributing to the export business of the country.

JOURNEY AND CHALLENGES

IT professionals and now startup founders, Lalit and Dimpy, decided to keep Melonleaf Consulting a fully bootstrapped startup. The reason was to retain complete control of operations and decision-making.

Initially, they hired just four employees who they worked with to reach out to potential leads, pitch their digital solutions, and convert them into clients.

The entrepreneur duo started with two projects and then began working on a strong sales pipeline.

“In 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic hit the world. It was also the time when businesses were looking to make a big transformation to remote IT cloud infrastructure. We immediately banked on this opportunity and began helping companies and organizations shift everything to cloud-based digital ecosystems,” entrepreneur Lalit explains.

By 2021, Melonleaf Consulting set up its office space in Gurugram and began building a team of dedicated IT experts and professionals. While the firm started by offering Salesforce CRM services like consultation and implementation, it eventually expanded into a host of various digital transformation services like Artificial Intelligence, product engineering, DevOps, ERP/ETL, and enterprise mobility.

“We started growing as a service-based IT company with a client-first approach. We acquired clients from the USA, Australia, Dubai, Europe, and other parts of the world,” startup founder Dimpy Arora shares.

Since they were catering to global clients operating in different time zones, Lalit and Dimpy would often have to stay awake for midnight meetings with their clients and customers. They adopted a give-first approach where they would design solutions and even small-scale MVPs for potential clients at no cost, encouraging them to test the digital product before assigning the entire project to Melonleaf and becoming a paying customer.

“I think this is something that made a lot of people place their faith in. I always tell everyone: the client can see through you. If you’re trying to make money by providing very little value, they can smell that from a mile away. At Melonleaf, since the beginning, real value-addition is what we have focused on,” entrepreneur Lalit Arora remarks.
