Swiggy Enters The Travel And Concierge Space With New App Called ‘Crew’ - Will Help Users Plan Vacations, Arrange Surprises, And More

In a new move, one of the leading food delivery and quick commerce platforms in India, Swiggy, has made its entry into the travel concierge and lifestyle space. 

This has taken place with the launch of a new app called Crew.

According to one of the sources of Entrackr, Swiggy’s co-founder Phani Kishan introduced Crew to a group by stating that the service has been released only as an “invite-only pilot.”

The anonymous source said, “The company rolled out the service as an invite-only pilot, and the team has been conducting internal trials over the past 15 days.”

WHAT WILL CREW LIKELY DO

With an affluent target market, the Crew app acts as a personalized concierge app that manages a wide variety of ordinary and special tasks for users.

From helping users securing an international driving license, getting their clothes and shoes laundered, to finding a locksmith and even planning a vacation in Europe, Crew does everything. 

But how does Crew describe itself? On Google Play Store, the app says that it is “your invisible partner, anticipating your needs and ready to act on them effortlessly.”

“Life’s too short to juggle endless tasks and complexities. Crew steps in exactly when you’d rather hand something off to someone you trust completely—whether it’s landing an impossible dinner reservation, crafting the perfect anniversary surprise, or effortlessly organising your next vacation,” the app description reads. 

“Hand us your to-dos and experience the instant relief and joy of knowing they're handled. Simply ask, and consider it done,” the description adds.

Currently, Crew is operating in a beta phase and its access is working on an invite-only basis. 

COMPETITORS

Last year, in October, Swiggy piloted a service called Rare Life. While it focused on premium events and experiences, it was discontinued in the beta phase itself to pay attention to travel and lifestyle management. 

According to Inc42, Crew is being developed based on the learning curve of Rare Life. 

The concierge market has seen a rapid surge in recent times. In the premium home concierge and lifestyle management space, there are players like Indulge Global, RedBeryl, CribLife, and Pinch.

While targeting major cities and affluent markets, Swiggy’s Crew will have to compete with the above brands.
