Imagine this: a small-sized home services company, telecom company, insurance agency, security surveillance provider (or literally any business that is primarily a field service business) wants to scale its field staff.

As soon as it does this, an evident problem comes up – confusion, misunderstanding, and chaos.

The business is unable to track the on-site location of its employees. There are delays in check-ins. Some fake attendance cases even show up in the system.

And most of all? A dip in customer satisfaction.

“This is the exact problem that many field service businesses grapple with. There is no software that can easily help them locate their team, know the status of the tasks they are performing, or even what is on their daily schedule. I knew that an all-in-one field management system was needed. And it was needed fast,”Gavaskar Raj, founder of Fieldy, tells Startup Pedia in an exclusive interview.

Founded in 2020 and based in Chennai, Fieldy is a SaaS-enabled field sales and service management application that empowers businesses with secure, scalable, and automation tech.

THE BACKGROUND

Hailing from Chennai, Gavaskar Raj comes with an extensive background in the field of Information Technology.

In 2007, he pursued his MBA from the University of Greenwich in London.

Thereafter, he entered the IT field and worked in numerous organizations in roles where he managed accounts, scaled businesses, built proposals, and ensured a uniform quality across processes.

Even though Gavaskar Raj’s career trajectory continued to rise, he would often find himself emotionally drained.

“Everywhere I worked, there was a laser focus on revenue-driven models. I could see a clear lack of empathy towards customers on the part of the organizations. Calls weren't picked up in time, redressal processes were delayed, and feedback was often doctored. I knew I couldn't continue this way; it just didn't sit right with me,” Gavaskar opens up.

In 2016, he decided to take the entrepreneurial plunge and established Zaigo Infotech Software Solutions.

Since the beginning, Gavaskar Raj built Zaigo with a purely customer-centric approach.

Today, the software product development company has a team size of 60 people and has helped 500+ businesses.

THE PROBLEM STATEMENT

By 2020, entrepreneur Gavaskar Raj noticed another problem: field businesses, especially small and mid-sized, were barely functioning to their full capacity.

“Everybody wanted to become another Urban Company, but they were stuck with manual attendance processes, misunderstanding where the field service employee really is, and what their schedule looked like,”Gavaskar Raj tells Startup Pedia.

In essence, there were three main challenges that field service businesses, especially SMBs, were facing:

  1. They intended to give an unparalleled customer experience, but it hardly became tangible. There was a lack of software that could cater to businesses that have customers and teams in the field and help them organize everything efficiently.
  2. Dips in productivity were a result of the lack of visibility of on-site staff and team members. This, goes without saying, directly impacted customer experience.
  3. Unlike large companies like Urban Company that have the resources to invest in world-class digital workflows, small and mid-size field service firms found it difficult to invest in infrastructure that monitors and organizes their processes. There was a gap in terms of an affordable solution here.

Gavaskar Raj decided to solve all these problems and build Fieldy - an affordable, automated operating solution for field service businesses.

He bootstrapped the SaaS startup with Rs 3 crore. This amount came from the revenues and earnings of Zaigo and his personal savings.

JOURNEY AND CHALLENGES

Gavaskar Raj and his tech team got together to build Fieldy into what they thought field service businesses needed.

Fieldy was launched in 2020, but…

It didn't receive the response that Gavaskar had anticipated.

“We had spent a lot of time building software that was complex. We were too focused on the minute details, as opposed to our target customers who just wanted simplification of their business processes,”startup founder Gavaskar Raj says.

“This was our biggest mistake: not talking enough to people we were building Fieldy for,” he reflects.

After seeing that the first version of Fieldy just didn't stick with field service professionals and firms, entrepreneur Gavaskar Raj and his team started physically going to their target customers, speaking to them about their daily lives, understanding the real problems they face in managing their field service employees, and how it directly hampers their customer engagement and experience.

“Speaking to 2,000+ customers firsthand changed everything. For instance, one day I was talking to a field service business owner and realized that one of his biggest problems was anxiety. The root cause of it was that he was never in touch with what his professionals were doing. It felt like shooting an arrow in the dark. He told me, “Raj, I don't even know if I am paying my professionals fairly or simply wasting my money.” He basically had zero idea about their performance levels,” Gavaskar Raj shares with Startup Pedia.

From 2022 to 2025, Fieldy worked on multiple iterations, made technical functionalities easier for its customers, and introduced a seamless user interface that genuinely solved day-to-day problems.

“Basically, we stopped trying to look like a smart software company. We just wanted to have operational usability,” Gavaskar laughs.

FIELDY: HELPING FIELD SERVICE BUSINESSES ACE IT EVERY DAY

Today, Fieldy runs as a SaaS platform that helps small-size and mid-size businesses digitize their field service and sales management operations.

By offering them clear visibility on their staff, Fieldy helps business owners make data-driven decisions that ensure a frictionless field-to-office connection.

With one simple mobile app installed on the field service employee’s phone, the business owner gets in touch with everything that the employee’s day looks like.

“For instance, field service businesses can see exactly where an employee is at any moment – whether they are travelling, working at the site, or how many service visits they have scheduled and accomplished for the day,” startup founder Gavaskar Raj explains.

Fieldy, as a next-generation field management software, helps businesses and companies track, manage, and optimize their team in seconds:

Through GPS-based check-ins, field service businesses can experience an effortless attendance process that reduces manual reporting and fake entries.

With access to live location and a real-time map, team leaders can know who is where at any time of the day.

“This real-time map on Fieldy also provides crew updates. This helps speed up decision-making,” Gavaskar says.

Team leaders and heads of operations can easily assign the right person to the right job with a simple drag-and-drop simplicity.

“So, for example, if my team member Rehan is closer to a customer's house than Sahil, I can optimize routes, save travel time, and easily assign Rehan to the job. This balances workloads fairly across the team and just makes things a lot easier,” startup founder Gavaskar Raj explains.

A simple-to-use manager dashboard helps field service businesses get instant insights on attendance, productivity, and revenue.

With customer experience as the main priority goal, Fieldy helps field service businesses capture every lead instantly by helping teams stay on top of follow-ups with built-in reminders.

“With all customer information in one place, deals can be closed faster and more efficiently. The result? The exact unparalleled customer experience that SMBs have always dreamt about,” Gavaskar affirms.

In terms of tangible impact, Fieldy reports:

  • 30% faster reporting cycle
  • 90% reduction in fake check-ins
  • Saves 10+ hours per week per manager

FIELDY’S GROWTH

Since inception, the next-generation field management software has been trusted by 2,000+ field agents across India, Africa, the UAE, and the United States of America.

With 300+ active customers (field businesses) in India and 40+ user accounts abroad, Fieldy has managed to do exactly what it set out to: give every field business the chance to offer a customer experience not dissimilar to that of the likes of Urban Company.

With an affordable plan, Fieldy democratizes access to digital workflows that optimize field service operations.

The SaaS platform's annual revenue growth has been incredible: from a humble Rs 12 lakh in FY23 to achieving Rs 65 lakh in FY24, Raj Gavaskar’s Fieldy has helped hundreds of field service businesses achieve growth with clarity, not chaos.

In FY25, Fieldy crossed Rs 1.8 crore in annual revenue.

For FY26, it is projecting a revenue of Rs 5 crore.

“Every field service business can become like Urban Company now. That too, at an affordable price. Fieldy offers automated monitoring and visibility that transforms field service providers into teams that are responsive, reliable, and fully accountable. In the end, I am happy I am doing something that is positive for the end customers. That is always what I had my heart set on,”Gavaskar Raj signs off.
