That’s exactly what led Varun Gosain to create No Filter, an Indian juice brand that promises to keep it real. No added sugar, no sweeteners, no preservatives. Just fruit. Pure and simple.

Varun Gosain was born and raised in Delhi. After completing his graduation from Delhi University and doing his MBA, Varun went on to build a career in the FMCG industry, spending over a decade selling sugar products across India. 

“When you’re selling something, you tend to eat it too,” he laughs. “I was consuming a lot of sugar and ended up weighing 118 kgs. That’s when I decided I needed a lifestyle change. And I lost about 31 kilos then.”

During his fitness journey, Varun met Medha Pathak, who shared his dislike for processed sugar. Along with Yakub Parekh, the three co-founders shared a vision for creating truly natural products.

“After our workouts, our bodies would crave something sweet and cold,” Varun recalls.

Why This Idea Clicked

As they explored healthier alternatives, the founders quickly realized that finding truly natural juice in India was harder than expected. 

“We started going to local juice vendors, sometimes the juice was good, but most of the time, the ice was dirty, the juice tasted stale, or hygiene was a big issue,” Varun remembers.

The turning point came one day when a juice vendor peed and without even washing his hands, served them juice. “That was the final nail in the coffin,” he says. “We knew there had to be a better way.”

Even supermarket shelves offered no relief. Every brand claiming to be “100% juice” had hidden sweeteners or ingredients they didn’t understand. 

“I’ve been in this industry for the longest time, and I still don’t know what INS 72 or INS 5 means,” Varun says. “Why can’t brands just be honest about what they’re putting in the bottle?”

That frustration became the seed for No Filter, a juice brand built on simplicity, transparency, and trust.

In less than a year since its launch in October 2024, No Filter has made a big splash, selling 90,000 bottles in six months, clocking an MRR of ₹20 lakhs, and expanding to 13 cities across India.

The Vision Ahead

While their journey in India has been impressive, the founders have global ambitions. Varun, who has traveled to the UK, Australia, UAE, and Thailand, noticed a glaring gap. 

“Every time I go to a duty-free store, I see products from Europe, the U.S., even Africa. But there is never an Indian brand there,” he says. “Even in Indian airports, most products are imported. That really pinched me.”

That observation guided the design of No Filter from the start. Every detail, from the bottle mold to the label design, is crafted to meet international standards. 

“We want people anywhere in the world to pick up our bottle and feel proud that it’s from India,” Varun says.

Alongside expansion, the founders aim to build trust — something they believe is missing in India’s beverage market. 

The team also plans to expand into other health-first food and beverage products, following the same principles: no sugar, no preservatives, and full transparency.

For the founders, this vision isn’t just about global growth—it’s about living the values they believe in every day. 

As Varun says, “We live, breathe, eat, and of course, drink No Filter.”
