Neil Busa and Khushi Busa - Founders Of Isha Creation
Imagine getting married at 21 years of age, having a child, taking on parental responsibilities in your early twenties, and running a startup from scratch with your partner.
This is what a Gujarat couple, Neil Busa and Khushi Busa, are pulling off today.
Together, they run Isha Creation, a crochet bag startup that brings in an average monthly revenue of Rs 2.5 lakh. The products’ prices range from Rs 1,900 to Rs 2,100.
“Honestly, this entire field is very new to us. It was Khushi’s hobby, but converting it into a business came with its own set of challenges. However, it has been extremely fulfilling. People love the designs we make, and our fresh yarn quality sets us apart from other crochet bag brands in India,” Neil Busa tells Startup Pedia in an exclusive interview.

THE BACKGROUND: EARLY MARRIAGE AND DROPPING OUT OF MBA
Hailing from Bhavnagar in Gujarat, Neil Busa comes from a background of business. His father runs a thriving steel and copper kitchenware retail store.
“I did my BBA from Gandhinagar and graduated in 2021. Next, I pursued an MBA, but soon dropped out in 2022. I fell in love with Khushi and wanted to get married to her,” Neil, who is currently 25 years old, smiles.
At the time, Khushi Busa, whose father is a colour contractor in Gujarat, was pursuing her MBA from the Marwari University.
Without much ado, the young adults decided to tie the knot.
Not wanting to do a conventional job, Neil decided to take part in his father’s business. This continued for a good four to five months. Eventually, he decided to do something of his own.
“Khushi has always loved creating handmade bags and purses. This was a very serious hobby for her. It was her idea to convert it into a business when she randomly started posting her creations on Instagram and got a very good response. The thing about anything handmade is that it is supremely delicate, and people love being a part of something that wasn’t machine-made in bulk,” small business founder Neil Busa tells Startup Pedia.
This was the start of Isha Creation, a brand named after their 3-year-old daughter.

JOURNEY AND CHALLENGES
In 2024, Neil and Khushi started conducting research on their small business idea. To operate on scale, they needed a substantial amount of raw material.
The Gujarat couple invested Rs 25,000 to obtain raw materials such as yarn and accessories. They went to IndiaMART to connect with manufacturers and sellers, but the experience wasn’t so good.
“We placed an order for yarn based on the photos they had shared with us. But when we received the order, it wasn’t up to the mark at all. It was made up of waste material from clothes. We even tried using this recycled material to create our handmade bags and purses, but the finishing wasn’t coming out the way we wanted. So it was Rs 25,000 down the drain,” Khushi Busa, small business founder, explains.
Next, the Gujarat couple invested another Rs 20,000 to obtain fresh yarn for their crochet bag startup.
“We received roughly 30 kilograms of fresh yarn from the amount. Then, Khushi went on YouTube to understand the intricacies of crochet art. All of this is self-taught,” crochet bag startup founder Neil says.
For most of 2024, Neil and Khushi zeroed in on the exact quality of yarn they needed, the kind of designs they would make, and figured out other aspects of the business.
In January 2025, the Gujarat couple finally officially launched Isha Creation in the market.
“Initially, it was only Khushi who was making the handmade bags and purses, with unique and beautiful designs. Eventually, we started contacting some people who could create handmade bags in bulk, in exactly the design and detailing that is unique to Isha Creation. For example, in August 2025, we asked a contractor to prepare a stock of 200 handmade bags and purses for us,” Neil Busa tells Startup Pedia.
“But to date, I try to make at least 5 bags myself every single day. Because I don’t want to lose touch with my art in the process of focusing on the business side of it. Also, for the customized orders, I am 100% in charge of them from start to finish,” Khushi Busa adds.
Currently, the crochet bag startup orders customized fresh yarn, in specific measurements, from manufacturers in Gujarat. This has helped them a lot in escalating the bag-making process, due to the pre-cut sizes.
The Gujarat couple also got the brand’s website made by a friend who owns a marketing agency.

ISHA CREATION: HANDMADE BAGS THAT BLEND MODERN AND TRADITIONAL TOUCHES
Today, Isha Creation operates as a crochet bag startup that offers completely unique designs and styles.
Each and every bag and purse that comes out of the small business is handmade from scratch. Absolutely no machines are involved.
“Unlike a lot of other crochet bag brands that you will see online, we are making our products with fresh yarn. That’s why our bags do not lose their structure and build over time. Our bags are soft to the touch but strong in structure and grip,” small business founder Khushi Busa says.
But what is the issue with recycled yarn that a lot of crochet brands use?
The Gujarat couple explain that recycled yarn is made by breaking down old fibers and re-spinning them. This shortens the fiber length, resulting in weaker tensile strength, more breakage over time, and less ability to hold weight (which is important for bags).
Isha Creation accepts orders for customized bags, which are then made exactly how the client likes them.

PERFECT FOR GIFTING
What the Gujarat couple has discovered over time is that a lot of customers want handmade crochet bags and purses for gifting purposes.
They have received a spike in orders during the wedding season and festivals like Raksha Bandhan.
“People are also gifting handmade bags on anniversaries,” Khushi Busa notes.
The prices for the beautifully designed handmade bags at Isha Creation vary from Rs 1,900 to Rs 2,100.
The average order value at the small business is Rs 2,000. However, the founders denied sharing the unit economics they are working with currently.
GROWTH AND WHAT’S NEXT ON THE HORIZON
The start of 2025 was a bit slow for Isha Creation because the small business founders were still finding their footing in the market. They didn’t have many designs and were working on increasing their product catalogue and pushing organic content.
Eventually, they also started spending an amount of Rs 10,000 per month on Meta ads.
“Currently, our order split is equal between customers coming in from our website and the ones who directly text us on Instagram to place their order,” the crochet bag startup founders note.
As for production, Isha Creation manages it via contractual workers who get paid a specific amount per bag they create from scratch.
During Rakshabandan in 2025, the small business achieved a total revenue of Rs 5 lakh in just one month.
Neil Busa and Khushi Busa have catered to a total of 1,000+ orders to date.
For 2025, the average monthly revenue has settled at Rs 2.5 lakh. Currently, they receive close to 4-5 orders every single day.
“We will close 2025 at roughly Rs 20 lakh to Rs 24 lakh of annual revenue,” Khushi says.
In the near future, the small business founders are working on expanding their product range to accommodate different price ranges, especially between Rs 800 and Rs 1,000.
The Gujarat couple are also working on launching crochet flowers, bouquets, pots, and Pinterest-inspired daily-use items for decoration. They have already hired three workers who are working on bouquets.
“Nothing makes me prouder than Khushi. It all started with a simple hobby that she had, and her willingness to take the entrepreneurial plunge. We are young parents and absolutely love doing everything together – from raising our daughter to building something of our own from the ground up. Isha Creation is on track to scale even further in 2026,” Neil Busa signs off.
