Talking to podcaster Ranveer Allahabadia (beer biceps), the food delivery business owner said he doesn’t hire candidates looking for jobs.
“The kind of workforce we hire is very different. Ideally we don't hire people who are looking for jobs. The kind of people we need, they don't search for jobs": said Goyal.
Rather he believes in “poaching” competent people from competitor companies.
"Poaching or approaching. We look for good people; then we work on them, at least the mid to senior level. The hiring process is very long ... it's like "dating" for 6-12 months. Then we're able to get people": Goyal added.
Social Media Reaction:
A screenshot of Goyal's words is getting viral on social media. Users are slamming Goyal for his ruthless hiring policy.
One user wrote (sarcastically): “We don't want Founders who are seeking VC capital”
Another user wrote (mockingly): ”Labour and restaurant aggregator behaving as if it is some cutting edge technology firm.”
While another user wrote: “We don't buy from companies who are looking to sell their products”
Zomato CEO Deepinder Goyal is often a topic of discussion on social media. Recently, he tied the knot with Grecia Munoz, a Mexico-born entrepreneur and former model.
Munoz is the founder of a luxury consumer products startup and was the winner of the Metropolitan Fashion Week in the US in 2022.
The news has sparked a lot of discussion in the media.
