In a recent post on X, Nithin Kamath, CEO of Zerodha, expressed his perplexity with Instagram's many features and even questioned whether he was too old to understand the platform or if it was just too complicated. Screenshots of an exchange he had with his team that showed how hard it was for him to understand Instagram's workings have gone viral.
Nithin Kamath on Instagram’s Complexity
Kamath, known for his straightforward approach to investing and business, admitted that he finds Instagram difficult to navigate. In a post, he humorously questioned whether the confusion stems from his age or the app’s evolving interface.
“Trying to learn how to use Instagram.🤯 I don’t know if I am too old or this is just too complex to use,” said Nithin Kamath on his X post.
Instagram, originally designed as a photo-sharing app, has significantly evolved over the years. With the introduction of reels, stories, and algorithm-driven content, many users - including business leaders like Kamath - struggle to keep up. The platform’s shift towards short-form video content and engagement-based algorithms often makes it challenging for new or casual users to adapt quickly.

Netizens Reactions
"Stories, reels, posts - seriously?" the 45-year-old asked his team, and after they attempted to break it down to him, Kamath replied, "How is everyone not totally confused?"
His statement resonated with many users, particularly those who felt overwhelmed by the fast-paced changes in social media platforms.
One user said, “A bit of both. After having reasonable expertise on IG since 2013, somewhere last year, I just quit.” He further added that it’s become primarily an advertising platform, influencer marketing, and brand publications with very little genuine content and connection. He ended the comment by stating, “X is much better. Seedhi baat, no bakwaas!!”
Another user commented, “You are too modest! For someone who built India’s most successful platform, which the young folks use for investments, this should be a cakewalk!” He also added that he’d be happy to run a session with his team.
A third user added, “If you can survive Twitter, you can survive anything. Instagram is just Twitter with pictures and a lot more influencers selling protein shakes.” He also reassured the Zerodha CEO that he’d be just fine.
