Zerodha co-founder Nikhil Kamath has recently launched his new podcast series 'People By WTF,' and he’s interviewing none other than Bill Gates.

During the interview, Kamath asked Gates to choose between capitalism and socialism.

Gates responded, “Capitalism gives you the freedom to start a new business or try out a new product, and that is the idea of freedom as it is not based on your background or class; it is a discovery power.”

The Microsoft co-founder mentioned that sometimes governments and markets are not innovative enough or fail to solve issues, which then becomes the task of philanthropy.

“We are not trying to take over government functions and we cannot possibly do that,” he emphasized.

Praising Satya Nadella

Bill Gates remarked, "A lot of amazing people I work with are from India, and part of that is Satya, who is doing an amazing job as the CEO."

He also mentioned that India is a country where  Microsoft spend the most money, close to one billion a year.

The Giving Pledge:

When discussing 'The Giving Pledge' initiated by Bill Gates and Warren Buffet, Nikhil Kamath asked Bill Gates about his connection with India.

Gates responded, "I've had a wonderful relationship with India. It all began with Microsoft, where we recruited very bright IT graduates and brought them to Seattle.

Later, they returned and established a development centre for us in four locations."

Nikhil Kamath and Bill Gates have a strong philanthropic bond, as Kamath has pledged to donate 50% of his wealth to 'The Giving Pledge'.
