India’s leading quick commerce company Zepto’s CEO Aadit Palicha recently admitted that the employees in his company work 80 to 100 hours a week. At the NDTV World Summit, he praised his team for their hard work and said it was the reason for the firm’s rapid climb to reach a market valuation of $5 billion.
Palicha added that his company values passion and prioritizes purpose over financial gain. Zepto’s employees put their effort into creating something, therefore, they don’t mind working long hours. [Source: Moneycontrol]
What did the CEO say?
“Candidly, working 80-100 hours a week, we could have probably worked half of that with a lot less stress... At a certain point, money becomes inconsequential. We love what we're building, we work like crazy, and we're genuinely so excited about what we're creating. It's not really about money or personal wealth,” Palicha commented.

Further, Palicha said that his company has the potential to change the start-up game in the country. He remarked that in comparison to foreign players, internet companies have not managed to reach the same heights in India. “We think we have a shot at really building out an exciting company, and if we do it, there's a huge amount of value that we'll add—not just to shareholders and capital markets, but to the startup ecosystem at large,” he added. The quick commerce player was founded by Palicha and Kaivalya Vohra back in July 2021.
Recently, debates and discussions on work-life balance have been doing the rounds. Last year Infosys founder Narayana Murthy even advised Indian youth to work 70 hours a week which sparked a controversy.
