Donald Trump, President of the United States of America, has made a statement in regards to tech companies like Google, Microsoft, and Apple hiring foreign workers, including from India.

At an AI Summit hosted in Washington, Donald Trump told large tech companies to stop hiring foreign workers. He asked them to focus on creating more jobs in the United States instead.

WHY DID DONALD TRUMP SAY THIS

According to India Today, Trump’s stance is that top US technology firms should prioritize national interest now, especially in the realm of artificial intelligence.

The President argued that some of the top US technology firms have generated substantial profits by establishing operations in countries like China and hiring workers from India. As per him, this has come at the expense of workers in the United States.

“Many of our largest tech companies have reaped the blessings of American freedom while building their factories in China, hiring workers in India and stashing profits in Ireland,”Donald Trump said.

“Under President Trump, those days are over,” he added.

Asking firms to “put America first,” the US President said that the companies in Silicon Valley and the American tech industry should put their attention on patriotism and national loyalty.

As of now, no official hiring freeze statement has come in from Apple, Microsoft, and Google. However, Trump’s statement may create uncertainty for foreign workers, including those from India, who are currently employed with these firms.

Additionally, this development may cause tech firms to rethink their hiring strategies as many depend on skilled engineers in China and India for their operations.

  • The second order enforces companies receiving federal funds to ensure that their AI tools are politically neutral and not “woke.”
