Founded in 2019 by former engineer Fernando Azevedo and cancer researcher Dr Emil Kendziorra, Tomorrow Bio, a Berlin-based startup, offers cryopreservation services to freeze deceased bodies for potential revival in the distant future, possibly 100 years later or more.

It’s legal in most Western countries, where Tomorrow Bio charges ₹1.8 crore for full-body cryopreservation and ₹67.2 lakh for brain-only preservation.

Cryopreservation is based on the scientific principle that, at low temperatures, all biological processes in the body stop functioning, including decay and death. Patients are cryopreserved with the hope that future technology may be able to revive them and treat the underlying cause of death.

How Does It Work?

After a person's death, specialised ambulances transport bodies to the main facility in Switzerland, where the body is then placed in a steel container filled with liquid nitrogen and maintained at -198 degrees Celsius for ten days to achieve preservation.

The patients are kept in the underground section of the European Biostasis Foundation's (EBF) facility in Switzerland. EBF is a non-profit organization that collaborated with Tomorrow to offer secure cryopreservation services.

So far, around 500 people have been cryopreserved since 1967, mostly in America. About 5000 people are currently signed up to be cryopreserved.

The company envisions a world where people can choose their lifespan regardless of their location, identity, or financial resources. Tomorrow Bio has already cryopreserved six people and five pets, with over 650 individuals having paid for the service and awaiting preservation.

Co-founder Fernando Azevedo Pinheiro said, "During our lifetime, we may witness the safe cryopreservation and reanimation of complex organisms."

About Founders:
