Today, on 15th October, Startup Pedia honours India’s ‘Missile Man’ Dr A.P.J. Abdul Kalam on his 94th birth anniversary.
Remembering India's 'Missile Man'
The 11th President of India, Avul Pakir Jainulabdeen Abdul Kalam, came from the humble fishing island of Rameswaram and went on to become one of India’s most recognisable scientists and statesmen.
Dr Kalam was a scientist with ISRO and DRDO. His contribution to the 1998 Pokhran nuclear tests made him popular nationwide.
One of his remarkable qualities was that he could effortlessly communicate with the young generation and promote science studies.
One of India’s most loved presidents, Dr Kalam, collapsed and passed away at the age of 83 while delivering a lecture at IIM Shillong on July 27, 2015.
Adding a cinematic tribute to the former President’s legacy, a biopic titled ‘Kalam’ was recently announced at the Cannes Film Festival.
The film will feature National Award-winning actor Dhanush in the lead role, portraying Dr A.P.J. Abdul Kalam’s extraordinary journey from Rameswaram to Rashtrapati Bhavan.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid homage to Dr APJ Abdul Kalam, describing him as a ‘Rashtra Ratna’ even before he assumed the office of ‘Rashtrapati’.
On the birth anniversary of India’s ‘Missile Man’, Dr A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, DRDO (Defence Research and Development Organisation) honoured his “unmatched dedication” and “humility.”
On Dr Kalam’s birth anniversary today, scientists and staff offered floral tributes at the bust of Dr APJ Kalam at DRDO Bhawan.
Bollywood actor Jackie Shroff took to Instagram stories to share a picture of the visionary scientist-turned-leader and wrote, “Remembering Shri APJ Abdul Kalam ji on his Birth Anniversary!”
