Man thanks Zomato, Swiggy riders
Hyderabad witnessed heavy rainfall on September 17, leading to extensive waterlogging, flash floods and gridlock across multiple areas of the city.
The downpour made it a challenge for officegoers attempting to return home. Among those who stepped forward to help were food delivery workers, who assisted pedestrians trapped on submerged roads.
Man thanks Zomato, Swiggy riders
Sumit Jha, a journalist, shared his experience on X, writing that he was rescued along with his motorcycle by delivery partners from Zomato and Swiggy.
“Hey Zomato, Swiggy, just wanted to share that your riders not only delivered food during this deluge, but also saved me and my bike from being swept away in the stormwater. They did the same for hundreds of people like me trying to reach home at midnight in Hyderabad,” he wrote.
Jha also uploaded a short video, filmed in waist-deep water, which showed individuals in delivery uniforms pulling a motorbike to safety.
