A video showcasing a mechanical sweeping machine in Navi Mumbai is doing rounds online. This machine is part of a project led by the city's municipal corporation to make Navi Mumbai the cleanest city in India.
The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation has acquired six new mechanical sweeping machines under the guidance of Commissioner Dr. Kailas Shinde. These machines are tasked with keeping the city's four major roads clean.
Deputy Municipal Commissioner Dr Ajay Gadade told Newsband that Navi Mumbai had acquired six new mechanical sweeping machines.
These machines can run on diesel, CNG, and electricity and will be used on four major roads in the area. These include Palm Beach Road, Thane-Belapur Road, APMC Market Road, and Amra Marg. Dr Gadade mentioned that the new machines are more powerful and environmentally friendly.
Following the suit, New Delhi Municipal Corporation has invited new bids for a ₹19.3 crore project to amp up mechanical sweeping and cleaning of 119 main roads in New Delhi, covering 415 km.
Some online users have pointed out that mechanical sweepers are already used in cities like Bhubaneshwar, Delhi, and Patna in limited capacities.
