Jensen Huang, the CEO of Nvidia has shared his journey from humble beginnings to leading the world's largest chip-making company. His LinkedIn work experience includes being the Founder and CEO of Nvidia since 1993 and working at Denny's as a "dishwasher, busboy, and waiter" from 1978 to 1983.
Huang, the 12th richest person globally according to the Bloomberg Billionaire Index, saw his net worth increase by over $4 billion in a single day in June when Nvidia, the world's most valuable public company, experienced a surge driven by artificial intelligence.
Since the start of 2019, the company's stock has risen by 3,776% due to profits from the sale of the primary chip for artificial intelligence applications. Huang and his co-founders came up with the idea for Nvidia in a booth at the same Denny's where he once worked. He attributes his humble beginnings to shaping his leadership style and believes no task is beneath him.
In a recent interview at Stanford's Graduate School of Business, Mr. Huang discussed his work at Denny's and emphasised his strong work ethic.
He stated, "No task is beneath me. I've cleaned more toilets than all of you combined."
He also expressed a deep respect for all types of work and a willingness to get his hands dirty. Additionally, he highlighted his willingness to contribute and provide input when needed.
Social Media Reaction:
Online users responded positively to the NVIDIA CEO's decision to be transparent about his employment history.
One user wrote, "Pretty cool! I'm dyslexic, didn't graduate high school, I look bad on paper. Not to sound hubris, but feel I'm pretty smart. Always nice to when someone gives another person a shot cause they see something in them."
Another user commented, "That's a powerful reminder that anyone can achieve greatness, regardless of their background."
A third user replied, "Started as a dishwasher at Denny’s, now leading NVIDIA for over 30 years. Every role teaches you something valuable. Success is built one step at a time."
