A Delhi man, Aviral Sanghal, played fintech company CRED's Friday jackpot and won a MacBook, iPad, AirPods Max and a TUMI bag worth Rs. 3.25 lakhs. However, his excitement vanished as the company cancelled the win, referring to a "technical glitch".
Mr Sanghal shared his bitter experience with the Kunal Shah-owned Bengaluru-based company on social media. In his post on X (formerly known as Twitter), Mr Sanghal wrote, "Even though I usually do not fall for the @CRED_club jackpots, yesterday I just played the Friday jackpot without having any hope of getting anything meaningful. But I scored the JACKPOT, and it wasn't a small one."

A 'goodwill gesture' by CRED after cancelling the jackpot
The CRED user recounted filling out the necessary forms and providing his PAN details for the TDS payment, only to receive a call from the company minutes later. He shared that the CRED team said they "had to cancel the jackpot because of some technical issue." And the team said they would credit back the coins and ₹ 1,000 cashback as a "goodwill gesture."
After the company refused the claims, the CRED user even tweeted a post tagging Kunal Shah, "So after declaring me as the winner, you cancelled the event? Is this even legal?"

A bug caused 200 users to win the jackpot!
According to Mr Sanghal, CRED "shamelessly" called him again, offering the same refund and cashback. However, Mr Sanghal demanded that the company should publicly address the situation and honour the prizes for all concerned users.
In another post, Mr Sangal said the CRED team had informed him there was a "Bug" in their system, due to which "there were 200 users who won the Jackpot."
"They decided to cancel the Jackpot instead of pausing, fixing the bug, and honouring the 200-odd users who already won," Mr Sangal elaborated.
He urged CRED to honour all winners, threatening to take legal action if necessary.
Update: Another call from CRED this more in depth. Due to a "Bug" there were 200 users who won the Jackpot. They decided to cancel the Jackpot instead of pausing, fixing the bug and honoring the 200 odd users who already won.

Netizens encourage CRED user to take legal action against the company
X users have encouraged Mr Sanghal to take legal action. A person commented on his post, saying, "File a case, please; it'll be fun to see the judgement of the court."
"Most shameless. Corporate robbers," some other person has remarked.
Another user even said, "CRED's credibility is now questionable. So freely, they are trying to bluff. If they are in the process of going for IPO, this issue should be addressed sincerely, or else fingers will be pointed towards the company. This is nothing less than digital cheating."
As for now, the fintech company has not publicly commented on the incident.
