India's leading eyewear retailer Lenskart's CEO and founder, has announced in a LinkedIn post that he's on the hunt for three Entrepreneurs in Residence to develop next-generation direct-to-consumer (D2C) eyewear brands. The brands will target specific consumer segments with unique design propositions.
Bansal wrote, "At Lenskart.com we are now looking for 3 Entrepreneurs in Residence to build the next generation of Direct-to-consumer eyewear brands.
These eyewear brands will be serving specific consumer segments solving a specific use case / building a unique design proposition for customers."
Founder Peyush Bansal is specifically looking for entrepreneurs who have previously scaled a lifestyle D2C brand to over ₹50 crore ($6 million) annually in India. He also asked the interested candidates to contact Lenskart with their details and a brief explanation of their suitability for the role so his eyewear company can reach out to potential candidates directly.
"If you are an existing or ex-entrepreneur and have built a D2C brand before in any lifestyle category of 50 cr a year (6 million US dollars) plus scale in India, and would now like to shift gears and explore building a global eyewear brand of 50x larger scale, please DM me your details with a short note on why you would be a great fit for this opportunity. Based on your note, lenskart office will get in touch with you," Bansal added.
Social Media Reaction:
Online users appreciated the idea but questioned the feasibility of hiring accomplished entrepreneurs.
One user wrote, "I feel, if anyone had made 50 cr in a year here in India they may challenge you in the segment of eye wear segment but anyways hashtag#CFBR"
Another user commented, "If a person has built anything meaningful say even 10/15cr ARR business, then that person will never go back for any job.
In India in current times, it's not that hard to build sustainable business. They can easily go for an sme IPO with even 10cr revenues and grow over time instead of finding a job again."
