KiranaPro, the grocery delivery startup, has been hit by a severe cyberattack that has wiped its servers, halting all operations.

What actually happened?

Deepak Ravindran, the co-founder and CEO of KiranaPro, has confirmed to TechCrunch that the cyberattack has caused a huge loss of data and also disrupted the operations.

As per the report, some malicious individuals gained unauthorised access to KiranaPro's digital infrastructure and proceeded to wipe out the company's servers, effectively deleting all stored data and bringing its services to a halt.

"Last week, KiranaPro — a company built on the trust of thousands of small businesses — faced a targeted cyberattack. It wasn’t random. It wasn’t opportunistic. It was deliberate. And it was personal," the founder detailed in a post on LinkedIn.

The CEO confirmed the breach, calling it a “deliberate and personal” attack.

He told TechCrunch that the cyberattack, which happened on May 24 and 25, has deleted the company’s app code and its servers, which consisted of sensitive customer information, including their names, payment details and address.

After the cyberattack, the company’s online app is unable to process orders.

Ravindran disclosed that the company has filed a complaint with the cybercrime cell and is working with ethical hackers and forensic experts to understand the full picture.

He shared reaching out to GitHub and the founding team to request a copy of the compromised repository from their internal backups and audit logs.
