Following the steps of Tesla CEO Elon Musk, Ola CEO Bhavish Aggarwal has instructed all employees across his companies to submit weekly reports detailing their accomplishments.

Ola boss asks employees, Kya chal raha hai?

According to recent reports, last week Aggarwal sent an internal email to staff, titled "Kya chal raha hai?" — a Hindi phrase that translates to "What’s going on?"

Under this policy, it is compulsory for employees to send a brief weekly email outlining 3-5 key tasks they have completed.

These reports must be submitted to the managers and a designated company email.

Incidentally, the first submission deadline for the reports was set for the end of the day following the announcement, and moving forward, reports are expected every Sunday. [Source: CNBC-TV18]

“We're starting 'Kya Chal Raha Hai?' — a simple way to share your weekly updates directly with me and your managers, starting today. Please send a brief update to your manager and [email protected] (email will be active in an hour or so) with 3-5 bullet points about what you got done last week. Keep it simple and to the point. Use the email subject: 'Weekly updates'. The deadline for this is today end of day. Going forward, we will expect the email before Sunday end of day. Everyone has to send this, no exceptions,” the Ola boss wrote in his message to employees, as mentioned in the news report.

Bhavish Aggarwal’s recent decision comes amid reports of Ola Electric Mobility planning to lay off around 1,000 workers — around 25 per cent of its 4,000-member workforce — as part of a restructuring initiative focused on cutting losses.

Aggarwal’s directive came right after Elon Musk, head of the US Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), asked all US federal employees to report with 5 bullet points in an email what they did last week.

Failure to do so could lead to termination, Musk said.

The Ola CEO’s similar decision led to mockery on social media.

“From the first product itself, they've been just copying,” wrote one X user.

“Understandable. The likes of Bhavish have made their entire careers out of copying the trends in west. They're not innovators,” another user said.

“The unoriginality and frequent plagiarism is so cringe worthy. It's a hallmark of Indian society. Been noticing it for decades,” an individual remarked.
