Bengaluru is the startup hub of the country for a reason. Recently, an intern quit his internship at a company called Flexiple after securing the fund for his own startup! Things like these can happen only in a promising city like Bengaluru.

Bengaluru startup

Flexiple is a Bengaluru based startup that helps companies hire tech talent. The startup offers a complete set of tools to streamline the hiring of engineers automatically. Their platform includes a network of pre-screened talent, a system for assessments, and AI-driven talent search. This helps in efficiently finding, assessing, and hiring the best in tech.

Karthik Sridharan, the CEO of Flexiple took to X and shared an incident that happened with him recently.

He tweeted, “This only happens in Bangalore” -

On Friday, Mr Sridharan noticed one of his interns was missing from the office and sent a text to find out why.

In response the intern replied, “Hey, Sorry I took a leave as I had a meeting with a VC. My AI startup got funded. I don’t need the internship anymore.”

In a fast-paced world it’s always good to hear about such interesting stories but this incident has not been well received by all as soon as people got to know about it.

Social Media Reactions

Netizens are claiming though it's understandable that the intern wants to leave in the given circumstance still he should learn some basic communication skills and respect everyone. After his boss inquired about his absence, he informed him and not before.

An X user commented, “I think this is disrespectful to some extent but understandable.”

“No matter how young or inexperienced someone is, basic communications skills, respect for others is needed,” another person added.

Even if the intern is a smart professional, he has to learn a lot about business ethics as many business people are claiming on X.  Abhimanyu Saxena, co-founder of Scaler took to X and remarked, “Glad for the kid! Just hope someone guide him to get better at communications as well!”

Sridharan, on the other hand has taken the entire matter lightly even suggesting that “This happens only in Bangalore” intending to mean that Bengaluru is truly a startup hub where such an incredible incident can happen that a trainee can turn down a promising job opportunity because he got the support to start a venture of his own.

Bengaluru has long been a tech hub, and according to Startup Genome’s Global Startup Ecosystem Report 2024, it is now also a leading startup hub in the country.
