Anupam Mittal slams President Trump

“The India-UK trade deal is done,” Mittal wrote on LinkedIn. “After years of colonial hangover, it’s finally India calling the shots, this time, with spreadsheets not swords.”

US President Donald Trumphas announced that Indian exports will now come with a 25% tariff. Incidentally, the President also remarked that the Indian economy is “dead” just like Russia. Experts are opining that the tariff on India comes as a “penalty” for trading with Russia.

“But while the UK’s rolling out the red carpet,” Mittal remarked. “The US seems to be playing hardball.”

The Shaadi.com boss shared that the irony is that India is not just exporting goods & services anymore.

“Indians are shining brighter than diamonds & building the US economy,” Mittal said.

He elaborated with the following pointers

🔹 Tech? Mostly run by Indians.

🔹 Wall Street? Flooded with Indian-origin fund managers.

🔹 P&G’s latest CEO? Indian again.

🔹 And VC-backed startups? At least one Indian founder on the cap table.

“There was a time when being Indian was a ceiling in corporate America,” Mittal added. “Now it’s almost a prerequisite.”

The Shark Tank India judge further commented that “visas remain a mess, trade negotiations are dragging, and posture > partnership.”

Lauding the nation’s progress, Mittal said that India is now in a position to engage on its own terms.

“We know we are the world's fastest growing major economy and we’re negotiating accordingly,” the Shaadi.com CEO said.

“So dear America, doesn’t look like bullying will work,” Mittal remarked wisely.

“But India should issue a counter ultimatum - play ball or we bring back our Kohinoors,” he concluded the post sarcastically.

In a recent post, the Shaadi.com founder criticised India’s blind adoption of deep-tech narratives from the West and warned against getting too absorbed in the AI hype.

“Every time I say India needs jobs along with deep-tech, someone sends me a whitepaper on AI skilling,” Mittal had said. “Basically, parroting the west without understanding our own reality.”
