IIT Indore Professor, Suhas Joshi, has created special shoes for army soldiers that harness technology to generate electricity and track the wearer's location in real-time, enhancing the safety and efficiency of armed forces personnel.

Officials have stated that these shoes can also accurately analyse athletes' movements to enhance performance.

The first batch has been supplied to DRDO. Professor Suhas Joshi, the director of IIT Indore, stated that these shoes will improve Army personnel's safety, coordination, and efficiency.

The shoes, developed with Tribo-Electric Nanogenerator (TENG) technology under the guidance of Professor I A Palani, can generate electricity with every step, enabling the operation of small appliances through stored energy.

The TENG technology can track the location of senior citizens suffering from Alzheimer's, school children, and climbers. It can also help monitor the attendance and work of workers in factories.

These shoes have GPS and RFID technologies to track individuals' real-time location and monitor factory attendance.

Social Media Reaction:

Many online users praise the innovative work of the IIT Indore professor, although some question the practical effectiveness of the invention.

One user wrote, "Oh, look at that! IIT Indore has decided to take a step towards the future, quite literally. They've designed shoes that generate electricity with every stride. I can just imagine the conversations now: "Hey, did you charge your phone?" "Nah, I just took a walk to the store!" But seriously, this is a fascinating development. Imagine a world where we're all charging our devices just by going about our daily lives."

The user added, "We'd never have to worry about a dead battery again! Of course, there are some practical considerations to keep in mind. For one, these shoes are probably not going to be the most comfortable footwear out there. And I'm sure there's a limit to how much electricity they can generate. But hey, it's a step in the right direction (pun intended). So, here's to IIT Indore and their electrifying footwear. May they pave the way for a future where we can power our lives with every step we take."

Another user commented, "Shoes that generate electricity with each step? Sounds impressive, but I hope IIT Indore's innovation doesn’t come at the cost of comfort or practicality. Let’s see if they can walk the talk!"

A third user replied, "Wow, what an invention by IIT Indore."
