"If not a job in finance, then what?": Zerodha’s billionaire co-founder Nikhil Kamath addressed the question in his recent tweet.

Kamath was talking about Bertrand Russell's "A History of Western Philosophy," giving it a solid 8 out of 10.

Kamath described it as a comprehensive book of various philosophical schools of thought, but he noted that it's quite long.

Kamath said, "Good book, 8/10, takes forever to finish, but great for summarizing different schools of thought." The post quickly gained attention, and went viral.

The Bangalore-based entrepreneur highlighted that the book explores the question: "why we are how we are."

But he particularly emphasised that if he wasn’t a businessman he would be a psychologist.

"For anyone who asks, 'If not a job in finance, then what?', it's definitely psychology for me. The most interesting thing is figuring out why we are how we are."

Social Media Reaction:

The post sparked significant reactions on social media.

One user wrote: “ This is also my favorite subject after my job. It's fun to understand other people, how they think, why they do what they do eyc. Understanding Psychology is also one of the most important parts of building a business.”

Another user commented: “Finding joy in understanding human nature is as valuable as understanding market dynamics. Embracing psychology could offer profound insights into human behavior, enriching your perspective on every other field, finance included.”
