‘If such an environment had existed during my time, I would have become a startup entrepreneur instead of appearing for the IAS exam’, said Amitabh Kant, ex-NITI Aayog CEO and personal envoy to PM Modi in G20 meetings.

He was talking at a 'Special Contact Campaign' event in the national capital, praising PM Modi’s efforts to promote startups in India.

India's Startup Boom:

He also highlighted the significant step taken by the PM Modi government in the last decade, which was the relaxation of rules and regulations for startups, allowing them to grow.

"Startup India was launched by PM Modi on January 16, 2016. Since then, India has seen the growth of over 130,000 startups, more than 115 unicorns, and businesses worth $350 billion," he said. Kant mentioned that the changes that have taken place in the last decade could have taken about 50 years to achieve, but due to the efforts of the present government, it became possible in ten years.

The founders present at the event mentioned that the government's policies and tax exemptions in the past few years have created a positive environment for doing startup business.

They amplified PM Modi's statement about the significant technological innovation and transformation in India over the last decade, citing the presence of over 1.5 lakh startups and more than 100 unicorns in the country, which have provided employment to hundreds of thousands of youth.
