Indian E-commerce giant, Flipkart has launched its quick commerce platform, Flipkart Minutes, almost similar to Zepto, Swiggy Instamart, Zomato’s Blinkit, and others to compete for domination in the ever-growing industry.

Flipkart Minutes wants to differentiate itself as a service, if felt below expectations, customers can cancel or refuse to collect items at the doorstep.

The service is currently live only for Bangalore regions of HSR, Bellandur and a few other areas. Interestingly, Flipkart is testing selling smartphones within 16 minutes of delivery time in Bangalore.

Flipkart started planning for rapid delivery in March after new quick commerce entrants found success. With its e-commerce capabilities, the company is considering a different rapid delivery format.

ET first reported on July 15 that Flipkart wants to operate approximately 100 dark stores (small warehouses for item storage) to start its quick-commerce services in time for this year's festive season.

ET suggests that with Flipkart's plan to expand the business, the service will initially be stabilised in specific areas in response to evolving market and consumer preferences before being scaled up.

Users are currently receiving their products within 8-16 minutes, in line with most competitors. Flipkart offers free deliveries for orders over Rs 99 and charges a Rs 5 platform fee. These services aim to attract and grow the customer base and are usually discontinued after widespread adoption.
