UCO Bank Chennai Zonal Head
A viral internal email alleged severe workplace misconduct by RS Ajith, Chennai Zonal Head of UCO Bank.
The email details multiple instances where Ajith fostered a toxic and dictatorial workplace culture. He has allegedly denied leave to employees during critical family emergencies, including flat refusals when a branch manager’s mother died and when others faced serious hospitalisation cases within their families.
The viral email
The email’s blunt depiction of telling an employee whose mother passed, “Everyone’s mother dies, don’t be dramatic”, has led to widespread criticism on social media, with calls for regulatory scrutiny from the Reserve Bank of India and the Ministry of Finance.
The communication, addressed to senior management, accused RS Ajith of cultivating a “dictatorial, abusive, and insensitive” work environment.
The complainant stated that staff were treated as “subordinates without dignity” and forced to comply with arbitrary instructions under a “climate of fear and humiliation.”
Another officer recounted being ordered to leave the intensive care unit where his infant daughter was receiving treatment and report to work immediately.
According to the complaint, the zonal head warned the employee he would be marked leave without pay if he refused, adding: “Child in ICU? Are you a doctor? Either come to office or take LWP.”
A third case described how an officer’s appeal for leave to attend to his hospitalised wife was dismissed with what was described as belittling language: “You’re useless anyway.”

Is this how a Zonal Head at @UCOBank is expected to treat his own officers?

One user commented: “That man should not just be removed from work (ensured he never gets any job anywhere) but also be arrested on terms of mental trauma given to the employees.”
Another said, “Honestly there should be a police complaint against these swines. There should be some laws.”
