Billionaire Zoho CEO Sridhar Vembu shared on X about the increasing unaffordability of education, which is linked to the rising cost of real estate in urban and small-town areas. This was in response to a post by Bengaluru-based venture capitalist Aviral Bhatnagar, who mentioned that the annual lower kindergarten fees in Hyderabad have reached Rs 3.7 lakh.
“My son's Playschool fee is more than my entire education expense :)
I hope vo ache se khelna seekhle yaha!” Aviral wrote on X.

"Expensive" Real Estate:
Vembu took to X and said the high school fees are driven by expensive real estate in rural and town areas, which are affecting education, healthcare, housing, and retail.
Vembu reposted Aviral’s X post with a comment, "Education has become increasingly unaffordable. A good part of it due to urban real estate (and even real estate around small towns) becoming extremely expensive; that affects education, health care and of course, housing and retail as well," Vembu wrote on X.
Aviral also shared the fee structure breakdown, which included a non-refundable registration fee of Rs 10,000, an annual recurring fee of Rs 25,000, and Rs 98,750 for each of the four three-month terms between April 2024 and March 2025.

The Zoho CEO added, "A lot of corruption money from politics is 'parked' in real estate and that has inflated prices beyond normal market forces. In a sense, all of us pay for political corruption in the form of expensive housing, schools and health care,"
