The Union Commerce Ministry's Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) launched a digital platform today, on September 16 aiming to strengthen the country’s startup ecosystem. The platform called the Bharat Startup Knowledge Access Registry (BHASKAR) promises to be a "game-changer for India’s innovation ecosystem", according to an official release.

This ground-breaking digital platform has been created to centralize, streamline, and enhance collaboration among key stakeholders within the entrepreneurial ecosystem, covering startups, investors, mentors, service providers, as well as government bodies.

The government’s vision aligns perfectly with this

This platform perfectly aligns with the Government of India’s vision to revolutionize the country into a global leader in innovation and entrepreneurship, strengthening the country’s commitment to the startup movement.

At this moment in time, India has more than 1,46,000 DPIIT-recognised startups and has quickly transformed into one of the world’s most dynamic startup hubs, the release added on September 15. With BHASKAR the government seeks to leverage the potential by providing an all-encompassing, one-stop digital platform that addresses any challenges faced by entrepreneurs and investors, the ministry informed.

The digital platform, BHASKAR will allow seamless access to a wide range of resources, tools, and knowledge that will help fuel the entrepreneurial journey from inception to execution.

Each stakeholder will be provided with personalized BHASKAR IDs to enable easier interaction, enhance searchability, and enable efficient discovery of relevant opportunities and partnerships.

Key features of the BHASKAR platform

The primary goal of the platform is to build the world’s largest digital registry for stakeholders within the startup ecosystem. Here are the salient features that will help the platform achieve its goal:

  • The digital platform will close the gap between startups, investors, mentors, and other stakeholders, allowing for effortless interaction across sectors.

  • By fortifying resources, BHASKAR will provide startups with immediate access to critical tools and knowledge, allowing faster decision-making and more efficient scaling.

  • A unique BHASKAR ID assigned to each stakeholder will guarantee personalized interactions and customized experiences across the platform.

  • With powerful search features, users can quickly locate relevant resources, collaborators, and opportunities, resulting in faster decision-making and operation.

  • This platform will serve as a channel for promoting India’s global reputation as a hub for innovation, allowing cross-border collaborations accessible to startups and investors alike.

BHASKAR marks a crucial step for the government’s continuing efforts to promote innovation, entrepreneurship, and job creation.
