On February 4, Zomato CEO and founder Deepinder Goyal took to X (formerly Twitter) to announce that he's on the lookout for product leaders who use Artificial Intelligence as their “second brain.”

He wrote, “I am looking to work with business and product leaders who have already started using AI as their second brain.”

“If you are the one, please write to me at [email protected].

PLEASE include the phrase "I have a second brain" in the subject line,” he added.

NETIZENS REACT

While some users started tagging relevant people who could apply for the potential post, others took to the comments to highlight that there's no update on a previous Chief of Staff role that Deepinder Goyal had opened.

One user wrote, “Dude, tired of your gimmicks!”

Another user wrote, “This is the second time you are asking for a job, we really don't know about the Chief of staff post, any update about that too? 😭😭”

CHIEF OF STAFF ROLE

Earlier, Deepinder Goyal had opened a Chief of Staff role at Zomato. He had stated that the selected candidate wouldn't get any salary for the first year. He would also have to pay Rs 20 lakhs. Another requirement was for the candidate to have Grade A communication skills.

According to him, it wasn't a fancy, well-paying job but rather a “fast-track learning program” in both personal and professional terms.

This sparked significant debate on social media, with people criticizing the move, saying it could encourage other companies to charge money from candidates.

In a later update, the Zomato CEO had clarified that the “Rs 20 lakh payment” was merely a filter or a screening tool that was used to find out people who knew how to identify an opportunity for a fast-track career.

He added that the company had received 18,000+ applications that they would be reviewing.

Along with the clarification, the Zomato CEO attached a “proof” of a previous chat he had with an X user. The chat had Goyal’s message stating, “We will not eventually ask for 20 lacs, and pay the right person anyway.”

Deepinder Goyal also emphasized that he would never want “pay the company to get a job” to become an acceptable norm.

Wakefit had ended up releasing a marketing campaign that mocked this entire fiasco.
