Badshah Asks Nikhil Kamath Where to Invest ₹3 Cr: Here’s His Advice

In a recent episode of WTF podcast, rapper Badshah asked Zerodha’s Nikhil Kamath if he invested Rs. 3 crores, which sector would fetch him a sure-shot profit. Moderated by Kamath, the conversation explored topics related to business advice and investing tactics.

Have Money? Invest in the Energy Transition Sector

On replying to Badshah’s question, Kamath speculated that the energy transition sector would be the desired area of investment opportunity. “Energy transition is such a big thing in the world; most wars in our history have been fought over it,” Kamath elaborated.

Renewable energy is a new age concept. According to Kamath, this is where the right investments should be made. Solar energy companies, electric car makers and battery manufacturers are where you should put your money.

Kamath professed that the renewable energy sector could prove to be profitable, given the government is encouraging the shift to green energy. 

In the episode, the Zerodha co-founder also warned about avoiding saturated markets and instead target areas that have significant growth potential over the next decade.

Wise Investment Move - Pick a Sector that will Grow 

“Pick a sector that you believe will be five to ten times larger in ten years than it is today,” Kamath said. He suggested looking for industries that have the potential to grow five to ten times bigger in the next decade. 

Kamath cited Bollywood as an example to point out that many investors enter the industry but often find that their investments don’t pay off. He went on comparing Bollywood to a funnel where money flows in and burns out.

“In my experience, if something doesn’t work from the very beginning, it likely never will,” the Zerodha co-founder remarked. 

Benefits of Doing Your Research 

He also discussed the benefits of doing considerable research on the business before investing in it. Kamath also advised against choosing a business blindly if it interested them.
