The American e-commerce giant Amazon has launched an online medical service called Clinic in India. This new clinical service offers online consultations from registered medical practitioners for over 50 medical conditions. With this service, Amazon is bringing competition to Practo, the industry's market leader.

The clinic service facility is easy. Before booking a consultation, users need to create a basic profile with personal details like name, age, gender, and phone number.
Now, depending on the medical condition, one can ask for an online consultation with a specialist doctor. Alternatively, the user can also book an appointment for a clinical visit in the service which is spanned countrywide. However, those users might have fewer options if they opt for a clinic visit.
The Amazon clinic service is user-friendly. Users can connect with a specialist instantly, depending on their availability, or they can pre-schedule a meeting. The consultation session can last between 10 minutes to 30 minutes.
Depending on the practitioner and his specialization, the consultation fee will vary between Rs 299 and Rs 799. A virtual consultation in this service has video, audio, and chat support with seven days of free follow-up. Incidentally, Amazon also has a pharmacy store for users to buy prescribed medicines directly on the app.
Doctors in Amazon Clinic: How experienced are they?
Notably, Amazon Clinic has listed medical practitioners specialized in dermatology, gynaecology, paediatrics, nutrition, and counselling. Amazon disclosed that all doctors listed on the Clinic will have at least three years of experience in tele-consultation. Also, privacy would be maintained thoroughly for the medical records obtained from these consultations.
Amazon recommends individuals use the Clinic service in a non-emergency situation or for follow-up after a diagnosis.
