Digital Connexion disclosed investing nearly $11 billion over the next five years by 2030 to build a one-gigawatt AI Data Centre.
The company has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Andhra Pradesh Economic Development Board for this investment over the upcoming years.
Digital Connexion is a joint venture between Brookfield, Reliance Industries and Digital Realty that builds digital infrastructure through AI data centres.
The project aims to set up an AI-native data centre campus across 400 acres of land in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh.
In October, Google disclosed its plan to build an AI data centre capacity in Visakhapatnam over five years, set to be the tech major's largest-ever AI hub outside of the US.
Indian players such as TCS, the Adani Group, CtrlS, and Sify are also stepping up investments to tap the growing demand for cloud and compute capacity. These moves have already placed India on the global data-centre map, a momentum that Reliance’s entry now speeds up.
