“Not China, Germany, USA. India is setting new records in road building,” says CM Naidu on NHAI Creating 4 Guinness World Records

Recently, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has created four Guinnnes World Records. This is in regards to the successful implementation of the Bengaluru–Kadapa–Vijayawada economic corridor (NH-544G).

The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has done something incredible: not just met but surpassed global standards of engineering, quality assurance, and execution.

It has created four Guinnnes World Records for the successful implementation of the Bengaluru–Kadapa–Vijayawada economic corridor (NH-544G).

"NHAI has achieved multiple Guinness World Records for continuous laying of bituminous concrete on the Bengaluru-Kadapa-Vijayawada Economic Corridor near Puttaparthi,"Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu stated in an official release.

On X, he wrote, “Not China, not Germany, not the United States. This is the new India setting new records in road building, right here in Andhra Pradesh. Congratulations to NHAI and Rajpath Infracon for achieving four Guinness World Records in a single week, with 156 lane kilometres paved and 57,500 metric tonnes of bituminous concrete laid on the BKV Corridor.”

THE FIRST TWO GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS - 6 JANUARY

On January 6, 2026, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) created two Guinness World Records near Puttaparthi, for the first time under the six-lane National Highway project

  • The first record was set for the longest continuous laying of Bituminous Concrete (BC). This covered 28.89-lane kilometer section within 24 hours.

  • The second world record was created for continuous laying of the highest quantity of 10,655 Metric Tons (MT) of BC. Again, in just 24 hours.

TWO MORE GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS ACHIEVED ON 11 JANUARY 

On January 11, 2026, the NHAI created two more Guiness World Records for the continuous laying of 57,500 MT of BC and continuous paving of 156-lane km or 3-lane-wide 52-km- long section.

This beat the previous record of 84.40-lane km or 2-lane-wide 42.20-km-long section.

For this project, the NHAI set up an association with concessionaire Rajpath Infracon Private Limited. Along with world-class construction equipment, 70 tippers, one paver, 17 rollers, and five hot mix plants were utilized.

Institutions like IIT-Bombay helped in monitoring the quality control, along with OEMs (Original Equipment Manufacturers).

THE BENGALURU-KADAPA-VIJAYAWADA ECONOMIC CORRIDOR

The six-lane Bengaluru–Kadapa–Vijayawada economic corridor stretches 343 kilometer and is being constructed for high-speed travel that is safe and secure.

As per The Hindu, this corridor would minimize travel distance by 100 kilometers from the current 635-km to 535-km. It will also reduce travel time from the current 12 hours to approximately 8 hours between Bengaluru and Vijayawada.
