Who is Jayshree Ullal?

Born in London and raised in Delhi, Ullal moved to the United States for higher education. She earned a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from San Francisco State University and later completed a Master’s in Engineering Management from Santa Clara University.

Ullal began her professional journey at AMD and Fairchild Semiconductor before joining Cisco Systems in 1993.

During her 15-year tenure at Cisco, she rose to senior vice president and played a pivotal role in scaling the company’s data centre business. In 2008, she took over as CEO of Arista Networks, then a relatively unknown cloud networking firm. Under her leadership, Arista transformed into a global powerhouse in high-performance networking solutions for cloud data centres.

According to Forbes, Arista Networks reported $7 billion in revenue in 2024, marking a 20% year-on-year growth.

Ullal owns nearly 3% of Arista’s stock and also serves on the board of Snowflake, the cloud computing company that went public in 2020.

Beyond topping the Hurun India Rich List 2025, Ullal ranks eighth on America’s Richest Self-Made Women list.

A consistent presence on Fortune’s Most Powerful Women in Business list, she stands as one of the few female CEOs leading a Fortune 500 company.
