Elon Musk joins Nikhil Kamath on the WTF podcast
In an unexpected crossover, Elon Musk sat down for his first-ever Indian podcast appearance on the country’s wildly popular People by WTF show hosted by Zerodha co-founder Nikhil Kamath.
The two-hour conversation oscillated between technology, philosophy, planetary futures and humanity’s biggest questions.
Highlights of the podcast
Early in the interview, Elon Musk outlined what he sees as the next great convergence of his companies: Tesla, SpaceX, xAI and even his humanoid robotics efforts.
For the first time, he publicly highlighted a path toward solar-powered AI satellites operating deep in space, a system that would knit together the core strengths of each enterprise.
How Musk unifies his businesses
When Nikhil Kamath nrasked which business excites him the most, Elon Musk offered a revealing explanation of how his ventures are slowly folding into one grand vision:
Well, I think that there’s increasingly a convergence, actually, between SpaceX, Tesla, and xAI, in that if the future is solar-powered AI satellites—which it pretty much needs to be in order to harness a non-trivial amount of the energy of the Sun—you have to move to solar-powered AI satellites in deep space.
He further highlights: “That is somewhat a confluence of Tesla expertise, SpaceX expertise, and xAI on the AI front. So, it does feel like, over time, there’s somewhat of a convergence there. But all the companies are doing great things. Very proud of the teams that do great work.”
From Tesla's battery and solar expertise to SpaceX's launch capability, to xAI's rapidly improving intelligence models and Optimus humanoid robots that are expected to enter production next summer, Elon Musk painted a future where his companies operate like components of a unified planetary machine.
More predictions
He also leaned into one of his most controversial predictions: that artificial intelligence will drive such material abundance that most work will become optional within 20 years.
Money, he said, will eventually become “a relic,” with energy emerging as the real currency, echoing his long-held stance that Bitcoin is fundamentally energy-backed.
The conversation also delved into simulation theory, the need to build "useful things," and Musk's sustained pleading for people to have more kids.
