Delhi sneaker brand founder says employee scammed Rs 2 lakh by using 100% discount codes
Delhi-based sneaker start-up Gully Lab has reportedly lost Rs 2 lakh after an employee defrauded the firm by misusing 100% discount coupons.
What actually happened?
In a post on X, Arjun Singh, co-founder of Gully Labs, alleged that an employee joined and, within a week, raised several 100% discount coupons to order sneakers for his friends and family before quitting.
“We hired a CS person a couple of months ago. Within the first week of joining, he made INR 2L of 100% discount orders - sent to his friends and quit in a week,” he shared.
After being caught, though the employee promised to return the sneakers, only half could be retrieved before he sent legal threats accusing the company of harassment.
“When caught - initially he decided to cooperate and returned half the shoes but the other half were used etc,” Singh said.
He added, “Then he started sending legal notices that we were harassing him in response to our notice to return the products or reimburse us!”
The co-founder further shared that the incident led the company to introduce strong safeguards.
"So now - we are enabling permissioning on our backend etc. amongst other things," he said.
