Indian Marriages:

Although the dowry system is banned in India, the tradition is still prevalent. We hear such cases from time to time. Usually, it involves gifting material possessions like furniture, or a vehicle to the groom after the wedding agreement.

But it seems the practice has evolved.

Also, matrimonial sites are popular and affordable in India. But it seems the father is seeking a groom who owns a successful startup business.

One user wrote: “Very normal. This fee is a filter to get crème de la crème.”

Another user wrote: “Make sense. Gotta pay premium for high quality leads”

While another user wrote: “One of the family member did the same … Paid 2.5L for Rishita from UHNI. It took six months for the girl to find her soul mate. If I don’t go wrong they are happily married for last 6 years and have two kids.”

Some people were curious if the father found a suitable partner for his daughter after paying a fee. However, Mishka shared that the family had turned down many potential matches.

"Not yet, they've rejected more than 80 profiles”: she wrote.
