Namita Thapar
Entrepreneur and Shark Tank India judge Namita Thapar has sparked conversations around sleep health after speaking candidly about poor sleep routines and the growing impact of stress on modern lifestyles.
Namita Thapar says poor sleep routine will catch you up after 40s
On social media, Thapar discussed how disrupted sleep has become a common struggle, especially among working professionals juggling long hours, high expectations, and constant digital exposure.
“Stress often manifests during sleep,” she had said, adding that overthinking sleep disturbances can worsen the problem rather than solve it.
Thapar shared a series of simple yet effective strategies to improve sleep quality. These include avoiding stimulants like caffeine and alcohol late in the day, keeping phones away from the bed, and resisting the urge to track sleep obsessively. Instead, she encouraged calming routines such as light reading, meditation, breathwork, or listening to soothing music or sleep stories when unable to fall back asleep.
In a recent interaction, she said that many young professionals commented on her post that they go to bed late at night.
“Do you think you’re smart and funny? You’re absolutely foolish,” the Executive Director of Emcure Pharmaceutical said.
“Once you cross your 40s, this will catch up with you!” she added.
The entrepreneur further explained that a bad sleep routine affects the heart, mood, and weight. It also heightens the chances of an early dementia.
She stressed that young professionals should fix their lifestyle, otherwise they will have to visit the doctor and hospitals later in life.
“Either change your sleep routine or make pharma companies like us rich,” she remarked.
“Bakwas bandh karo, sudhar jao aur so jao!” the Emcure boss advised young people while closing the reel.
Namita Thapar often shares her experiences and talks normally about women’s health on Instagram, encouraging early awareness and management.
