This woman entrepreneur launched innovative sarees that can be worn in one minute - records Rs 1 Cr turnover in FY23.

Saree, one of the most iconic and traditional garments of India, has always been a symbol of grace, elegance, and sophistication. It is a long piece of cloth that can be draped in various ways, depending on the region and cultural background. However, draping a saree can be a challenge for many, even for those who have grown up wearing it. It can take hours to drape it correctly, and there are chances of it slipping or coming undone.

To address this problem, Mumbai-based entrepreneur Sasha Revankar launched One Minute Saree, a brand that offers pre-stitched sarees that can be draped in just one minute.

Saree, but with a twist of ease and comfort

Founded in 2022, One Minute Saree is a revolutionary brand that has disrupted the saree market in India. The brand offers a range of pre-stitched sarees that are stylishly designed and complement the elegance of the traditional Indian garment. The sarees can be draped in just one minute, which saves time and effort for women who want to wear a saree but are hesitant to do so due to the complexity of draping it.

Sasha Revankar, the founder of One Minute Saree, was raised in the US and had a fascination for the various styles of sarees since childhood. However, while struggling to drape a saree without any help, she decided to create One Minute Saree.

Despite scouring through online and offline marketplaces, she couldn't find any pre-stitched sarees that were stylishly designed and complemented the elegance of the traditional Indian garment. This provided an opportunity for Revankar to create a business that filled the gap in the market.

Although the idea for One Minute Saree was conceptualized in 2020, it only took off in 2022 due to the pandemic. Revankar opened separate online stores for both the US and the Indian market and hired tailors and masters in a production facility in Mumbai to work on her idea.

The USP

One Minute Saree offers an extensive range of collections crafted from nine different fabrics such as silk, cotton, linen, georgette, and organza, each available in various designs, including Kanjivaram, kalamkari, bandhani, sequins, and embroidered. The sarees can be draped in three different shoulder styles, namely free-flowing, pleated, and Gujarati style.

The prices for these sarees fall between Rs 1,500 to Rs 10,000, making them accessible to a broad range of customers.

A massive turnover

Since its inception, One Minute Saree has catered to more than 5000 orders. In FY22-23, the brand recorded a turnover of Rupees 1 crore, which is an impressive feat for a startup that was launched during the pandemic.

Revankar's future plans include reducing the steps required for blouse customization and launching readymade blouses. She also plans to collaborate with a renowned designer boutique for a resort wear collection.

One Minute Saree is not just a brand; it is a symbol of empowerment for women who want to embrace the traditional Indian garment without compromising on style and convenience. The brand has received positive reviews from customers who appreciate the ease of wearing a saree and the variety of designs available. It has also created employment opportunities for tailors and masters in Mumbai, who work tirelessly to bring Revankar's vision to life.

In conclusion, One Minute Saree is a testament to the power of entrepreneurship and innovation. It has disrupted the saree market in India and has created a niche for itself by offering a unique product that caters to the needs of modern Indian women. With its future plans, One Minute Saree is set to expand its reach and offer more convenience and style to its customers.
