This IPS officer quit his job to become an entrepreneur - launched a startup that helps 5,000+ people build life-changing habits.

Founded in 2020, Habit Strong is an innovative habit-based learning platform that aims to help people change their lives for the better by building concrete habits.

Founded by Rajan Singh, a graduate of the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur and a former top-ranking IPS officer in Kerala, the platform offers live video programs on things like meditation and workouts to help people create and cement positive habits.

From an IPS officer to an entrepreneur

After serving in the police force for eight years, Rajan pursued an MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and worked for several renowned companies before embarking on his entrepreneurial journey.

In 2012, he founded Course Brew, a video-based e-learning platform, and later founded ConceptOwl in 2015, which worked in the realm of science education for school students and competitive exam aspirants. The idea behind ConceptOwl was to bring Tier II and III students closer to quality education.

In 2020, amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, Rajan saw an opportunity to create Habit Strong, which eventually merged with ConceptOwl.

During the Covid-19 pandemic, a lot of people’s routines got uprooted as well.

Firstly, many people's work lives were affected, with many either losing their jobs or being forced to work from home. This shift in work-life balance led to a blurring of boundaries between work and personal time, making it harder for people to stick to their routines.

Secondly, the lockdowns and social distancing measures put in place by governments meant that people were unable to participate in activities outside the home, such as going to the gym or meeting with friends. This led to a decrease in physical activity and social interaction, which are important components of a daily routine.

Finally, the stress and anxiety caused by the pandemic may have caused people to abandon their routines as they struggled to cope with the uncertainty and upheaval in their lives.

It was during this time that Rajan Singh realized that building a morning person habit had helped him tremendously but also required him to be extremely driven. This realization led him to create a product that could help people build concrete habits that improve their lives.
