Dicky Massey - Founder of Wyr.ai
If you’ve ever visited a product factory, you’ll see that inspections take top priority.
Every product that leaves the warehouse or factory has to be inspected thoroughly for functionality, scratches, dents, tears, misprints, and so much more.
The problem, however, is the scale.
A lot of times, inspections turn out to be “almost right.” There’s something that gets missed: the product gets delivered to the customer, they reject it and send it back, and the brand or business has to bear the RTO (Return To Origin) cost.
“I wanted to change this. I wanted to eliminate the possibility of human error, bias, and the internal differences between the manufacturers and wholesalers. Having spent more than 25 years in the retail textile industry, I know exactly how important inspections are and the gaps numerous industries grapple with,” Dicky Massey, founder of Wyr.ai tells Startup Pedia in an exclusive interview.
Founded in 2023 and based in New Delhi, Wyr.ai is an Artificial Intelligence startup that has innovated a product inspection solution combining AI and AR to deliver fast, reliable, and efficient quality inspections.
Wyr.ai is set to find and help customers across numerous fields such as automobile, aircraft parts, pharmaceuticals, textiles, apparel, footwear—basically anywhere tangible products are manufactured.

HOW IT ALL BEGAN
In 1990, Dicky Massey graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Arts from the prestigious Stephen’s College in New Delhi.
While he started his professional journey by helping with stationery printing, he eventually entered the field of sourcing textiles. Dicky’s brother introduced him to a textile importer who helped him set foot in the industry.
“For more than two decades, I worked in the textile industry. I would source high-quality textiles for importers and be the link between manufacturers and wholesalers. It was here that I began to understand the gaps in the inspection processes we followed,” entrepreneur Dicky Massey explains.
Eventually, he decided to start something of his own. When the COVID-19 pandemic hit the world, Dicky partnered with a techie and started building an artificial intelligence-based health app.
The idea for it was pretty impressive. Dicky and his partner were trying to curate and offer meal plans to people based on the health metrics that their smartwatches displayed every day. However, the startup couldn’t scale.
“That’s when I realized that I should do something in my field. Something that I had gained experience in during all these years. I decided to address the gaps in product inspection that I had personally faced while performing quality checks for my clients,” startup founder Dicky tells Startup Pedia.
THE MAIN GAPS IN TRADITIONAL PRODUCT INSPECTION
According to Dicky’s experience, echoed by many others, the key shortcomings of traditional quality checks and product inspections include:
-
Documenting the reports of the product inspections often takes a lot of time.
-
There is a lack of transparency between manufacturers, product inspectors, and buyers.
-
Even skilled labour is prone to human errors, which ultimately manifests in deeper problems in the area.
-
Manually maintaining records is another area that becomes time-consuming.
-
Disputes are not rare, but almost a regular occurrence.
-
There is an absence of a clear structure that can evaluate the performance of the inspectors.
Taking each of these gaps into consideration, entrepreneur Dicky Massey set out to bring together a team of tech experts who could develop something that made product inspection seamless and reliable. Together, they immersed themselves in research, conceptualization, and finally, the development.
This was how the artificial intelligence startup Wyr.ai was established in 2023 with a bootstrapped amount of Rs 50 lakhs that came from Dicky’s savings.

WYR.AI: THE NEW-AGE PRODUCT INSPECTION
Wyr.ai’s innovative artificial intelligence solution leverages advanced machine learning algorithms to streamline and enhance the inspection process.
The product design is that of specs that need to be worn by the product inspector. It is hands-free in nature and mixes real-time views with augmented reality images and texts.
The functionality of Wyr.ai can be encapsulated in the following pointers:
-
Once the QC product inspector is assigned, they wear the Wyr.ai device, just as simply as glasses are worn.
-
The QC inspector has to look at the item while the device itself performs the intricate inspection.
-
As far as the QC inspector’s view is concerned, they will be able to see the real product along with the quality check inspection pointers offered by the AI device.
“For instance, if someone is performing a quality check on a mobile phone, they will be able to see the mobile phone as well as the exact dents, scratches, and issues in the product. From here onwards, the report generation will be automatic and standardized,” startup founder Dicky Massey shares.
-
Fully equipped with a GPS tracker and precision location feature, the Wyr.ai device comes with an option of live inspection. This means all stakeholders involved can view the inspection happening in real-time and interact with the inspector. This will also help supervisors evaluate the performance of the person in charge of inspecting the product batch.
“This is a groundbreaking feature that will ensure that disputes and chargebacks are minimal. We are aiming to bring 100% transparency to the process,” entrepreneur Dicky affirms.
-
Factories and warehouses often have a lot of cartons. Counting them and updating their correct number is important. The Wyr.ai device features an auto-count feature wherein users simply have to capture a photo of the cartons and see the total number displayed on the screen.
-
Additionally, the device can automatically check and match colours, styles, and types in real time.
-
The reports and live videos generated by the Wyr.ai device can be easily downloaded and used for future reference.
The Wyr.ai AR device comes with two plans for businesses to select from:
-
The first option is on a rental basis. The rental cost is Rs 10,000 per device for a 15-month period, and the inspection charges amount to Rs 1,500 per inspection.
-
The second option is a no-rental plan. The inspection charges are Rs 2,000 per inspection, but the minimum commitment needed from the buyer is 20 inspections on a monthly basis.
Wyr.ai’s team helps clients with the entire process of onboarding, training, and device setup. These activities come at no extra cost to the client and are included in either of the options they select.

LOOKING AHEAD
While Wyr.ai has recently launched in the market, it has received a positive response from numerous brands, businesses, inspection houses, and factories.
The team is looking forward to giving demonstrations and onboarding a significant number of clients this quarter.
“All in all, Wyr.ai will ensure that quality checks come with a guarantee. AI is the future, and we are leveraging it to build a system that does everything in one place—from tracking and inspecting to reporting. Now, there is no need to take the risk of human bias and error and invite compromised inspection reports. With Wyr.ai, everything is reliable, efficient, and tech-driven,” startup founder Dicky Massey signs off.
