Repos Energ Founders Chetan Walunj and Aditi Walunj
“Fuel… why and how would it even be delivered? You must be nuts.” Before 2017, most people couldn't fathom the idea of doorstep delivery of fuel.
Well, most people except the husband-wife duo of Chetan Walunj and Aditi Walunj.
Founded in 2017 by Aditi and Chetan, Repos Energy is an on-demand fuel delivery startup. To date, it has fulfilled orders for more than 30 crore liters of fuel.
THE FOUNDERS’ STORY
Hailing from families that own businesses in the realms of construction, hospitality, and petrol pumps, Aditi and Chetan wanted to do something that added concrete value and impact on society.
In 2016, an idea came knocking on their door.
That day, Pune experienced heavy rainfall and a continuous compromise in the city's electricity supply. During the blackout, Aditi was managing her family's fuel business on the phone, taking calls, making them, and handling urgent requests.
Amidst the chaos, a deliveryman rang their bell and delivered a book from Amazon that Aditi had ordered.
This was the Eureka moment for the couple.
They looked at each other and wondered if they could deliver fuel exactly like that.
That was how Repos Energy started.
Seven years later, the Ratan Tata-backed startup has delivered more than 30 crore liters of fuel with zero compromises on safety and efficiency.
PRODUCT
As an end-to-end fuel delivery and management platform, Repos Energy relies heavily on technology to make rapid advancements in the field of fuel delivery and energy distribution.
The fuel delivery startup addresses numerous problem statements of companies and organizations and helps them choose a fuelling method most aligned to their specific needs and cost-benefit analysis.
Through Repos Energy, customers get:
-
Doorstep delivery of diesel

Live fuel tracking
“At Repos Energy, tech is something we incessantly keep building. The field we operate in involves a lot of intricacies, and without daily updates, graphs, and insights, things can fall apart. But it's tedious to maintain this in physical books. Hence, all our products are tech-based and user-friendly at the same time,” startup founder Aditi Walunj tells Startup Pedia in an exclusive interview.

REAL PROBLEMS, REAL SOLUTIONS

While Repos Energy primarily facilitates doorstep delivery of fuel and makes numerous projects easier for companies and organizations, it also solves real-life problems of fuel wastage, increasing costs, and gaps in tracking the exact quantity used.
The startup addresses all these problem statements by integrating technology at every step of the fuel delivery process.
“Companies and organizations have a lot of fuelling methods like underground storage tanks, on-ground tanks, and barrels. Regardless of the method they use, we have concrete tech-based fuelling solutions that take off a lot from a business owner’s plate. The aim is to free them of operational worries so they can focus on what matters most: growing their business,” startup founder Aditi Walunj explains.
When asked for an example, entrepreneur Aditi Walunj shared the solution they offered to Galdhar Foods in Pune, which operates in the FMCG manufacturing sector.
“This specific manufacturer consumes about 25,000 liters of fuel on a monthly basis,” Aditi shares.
But they faced two issues:
-
Galdhar Foods wasn't able to track the exact consumption of the fuel.
-
A lot of fuel would get wasted during the process of transferring it from the barrels to the machines and vehicles. The repercussion? Lots of additional costs.
When Repos Energy came into the picture and offered the manufacturer tech-based fuelling solutions, Galdhar Foods was able to more accurately track the exact fuel consumption. This manifested in cost optimization.
Another customer testimonial comes from K2K Infrastructure Private Limited in Bengaluru.
Rajmani Biswal, the firm's mechanical assistant manager, says in a testimonial, “In our early projects, we were managing diesel manually with barrels. Loading and unloading them would cause a lot of waste. Also, there were pilferage issues that would ultimately hurt our vehicle's engine life.”
“But with Repos, we now get accurate information on the storage capacity, the specific utilisation made, etc. There is also no risk of leakage,” he adds.
GROWTH AND RECOGNITION
Owing to the impact the on-demand fuel delivery startup has created, startup founders Aditi Walunj and Chetan Walunj have received recognition from various experts in the industry and governmental fields.
In 2021, Aditi and Chetan won the National Startup Award presented by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
They also received the Fortune 40 Under 40 award presented by Infosys founder Narayana Murthy.
The entrepreneurs have been advised, mentored, and recognized by Mr. Ram Charan (an internationally renowned business consultant and best-selling author), Mr. Tarun Kapoor (advisor to the Prime Minister), and Mr. Piyush Goyal (Minister of Commerce and Industry).
LOOKING AHEAD
In the near future, Repos Energy plans to raise a funding round at a unicorn valuation.
According to Aditi Walunj, Repos Energy is a startup that has the potential to deliver great returns on investments for investors.
It is also on track to venture into the B2C category of fuel delivery, expand internationally, and continue scaling technology in the fuel industry.
“When we started building Repos, Chetan and I didn't know where it would go. But we knew just one thing—we wanted to do something for people. Make things easier for them, help them expand their businesses, save money, and ultimately create more prosperity. I am very humbled and grateful for the recognition, but I think this is only the beginning,” startup founder Aditi Bhosale Walunj signs off.
