In today's fast-paced world, Karan Bhangay founded Indulge Concierge a year ago to assist high-net-worth individuals (HNIs) in thoroughly enjoying life's luxuries while ensuring they receive exceptional value. They currently serve 1000 ultra-high-net-worth individuals (UHNIs) globally. Karan Bhangay recognized a strong demand among HNIs for personalised shopping assistance, leading to the resounding success of Indulge Concierge since its launch last year.
What Indulge Global does:
The role of a concierge has evolved significantly from its historical origins, tending to candles in mediaeval castles. Today's Indulge Concierge offers a wide range of services, handling everyday tasks and fulfilling extraordinary client requests. They prioritize their clients' wishes by providing convenience, stress relief, and efficient time management.
Indulge Concierge excels at arranging access to exclusive Berlin clubs, acquiring sought-after items like the Birkin bag, securing reservations at popular restaurants with long waiting lists, and planning unique experiences such as private museum tours and vintage boat outings for special occasions. They also handle special deliveries, ensuring every desire is fulfilled, such as arranging freshly made doughnuts delivered to grandchildren in Chile.
Indulge Concierge also partners with renowned brands like Hermes and Rolex to enhance clients' experiences, embodying the ethos of "Demand Your Desire."
Their clientele:
The founders of Zerodha, Nikhil and Nitin Kamath, were our first clients. They approached Startup Pedia for assistance with a trip to Tirupati, and we arranged a stress-free chartered flight and darshan experience for them. Since then, we have been involved in all their important events, from sending gifts to organising special dinners and planning parties.
Indulge Concierge has a distinguished clientele, including approximately 1,000 high-net-worth individuals, 100 public figures, 200 industrialists, and 50 sports stars, with a combined net worth exceeding 1,000 crores.
Notable personalities such as celebrity comic Tanmay Bhatt, nutritionist and health coach Parinita, and Adarsh Narahari, the founder of Primus Senior Living, have all lauded our services. Many other clients prefer to maintain a low profile.
Indulge Concierge primarily operates in Dubai, London, and India, catering to clients in major cities like Delhi, Mumbai, and Bengaluru as well as smaller cities like Bhopal, Ranchi, and Pune.
Why Indulge Concierge is doing well:
Karan, who specialises in managing the leisure time of busy yet affluent individuals, shared with StartupPedia how the world has evolved over the years. "I come from Hyderabad, and eight years ago, there was only one Jaguar car in the city, which everyone admired. Today, there are over 400 Jaguars and even more Lamborghini and Rolls-Royces. The number of billionaires has increased, and people are doing quite well," says Karan, who serves as a concierge for the founders of Swiggy, Cred, Meesho, Licious, and Flipkart.
The onboarding process is simple. Clients need to discuss their preferences, travel styles, services they might use, and important dates such as birthdays and anniversaries. Indulge Concierge then connects with them via WhatsApp, offering 24/7 availability. For an annual fee of Rs 4 lakh, the company ensures end to end access to luxury and premium services.
While some may argue that a personal assistant can handle these tasks, Karan disagrees. "A personal assistant is great for booking movie tickets and reminding you about events, but their reach is limited to local experiences. We can arrange global experiences for you. For example, a personal assistant might not be able to get Wimbledon tickets on 48 hours' notice, but we have the resources to do that. Plus, personal assistants don't work on weekends, while we are available around the clock, 24x7, 365 days" Karan explains with a laugh.
Karan's life story:
In an interview with Startup Pedia, Karan shared how he founded Indulge Concierge. Coming from a middle-class background, with a father who was a state-level cricket player and a mother who was passionate about painting and handicrafts, Karan had a happy childhood studying at DAV. However, he felt that engineering at Jawaharlal Nehru Engineering College wasn't the right path for him.
Instead of continuing with college, he boldly decided to drop out in his fourth year in 2008. Capitalising on the popularity of magazines at the time, he started a luxury products magazine, which proved to be successful and generated substantial revenue from advertising. However, with the rise of the digital world, he made the tough call to shut down the magazine.
Subsequently, he ventured into organizing exhibitions for luxury products, experiencing growth with a team of around 40 employees. Unfortunately, the onset of COVID-19 drastically affected the business, leading to its closure due to the challenging circumstances people faced while staying at home.
During this period, some of his past clients began requesting specific services. With a desire to assist, Karan officially founded Indulge Concierge in 2023, aiming to provide a wide range of services. Notably, the company operates not just in major cities like Gurugram, Bengaluru, or Hyderabad but also in the small village of Revora in Goa.
In addition to its business activities, Indulge Concierge is actively involved in community development initiatives in Rivora, including building schools and bus stops and contributing to the local economy. By establishing an office in Goa and encouraging employees to reside in the village, Karan aims to create a solid organizational culture promoting the team’s growth and motivation.
Unique hiring process:
As the journalist from Startup Pedia found out, Karan has a unique approach to hiring. I am the oldest on our team, with most members under 25. I call them my "genies" because they can make anything happen. So, our hiring process is just as unique. We equip them with skills that’s required to fulfil our clients requests in no time. We want them to be great communicators comfortable with technology and the digital world. Everything else we teach them.
Prospects for Indulge Concierge:
Indulge Concierge, led by Karan Bhangay, has a team of 20 employees dedicated to easing the lives of high-net-worth individuals (HNIs). They handle everything to ensure clients get the most value for their money and more importantly, save time. The company will launch an AI-based app soon to make the process smoother.
