Imagine having an interview for your dream B-school in a week.

You head over to LinkedIn, try connecting with people who study at the college or have already studied, send DMs asking them for any inside scoops you could get to prepare yourself better.

Then, you browse through multiple YouTube videos of mock interviews related to B-schools. Except they are generic.

A bit too surface-level. A bit too impersonal.

“This is the exact gap that we are trying to solve when it comes to CAT interviews for B-school aspirants. While all stages of the exam are carefully looked after, the interview preparation phase is something that is treated as an afterthought. Students either rely on generic question banks or remain anxious about what follow-up questions the panel might ask them,” Vihaan Verma, co-founder of InterviewPrep, tells Startup Pedia in an exclusive interview.

THE BACKGROUND

Born and brought up in New Delhi, Vihaan Verma and Arnav Jain are going to turn 21 years of age soon.

Both of them studied at theLotus Valley International School Lotus Valley School in Noida. For their undergraduate degree, Vihaan began pursuing a BA programme (with a major in Economics) from Hansraj College in Delhi University, and Arnav Jain took up Bachelor of Management Studies (BMS) from Keshav Mahavidyalaya, also in Delhi University. They are looking to graduate by June 2026.

Arnav Jain and Vihaan Verma also began preparing for CAT during college. In November 2025, they sat for their first attempt and scored 99.4 percentile and 99.99 percentile, respectively.

After the results came out, the young entrepreneurs started preparing for interviews to get into their desired B-schools in India.

“This is the time when we started realizing that there is something missing. We didn't have enough clarity around MBA interview preparation and felt like we were shooting arrows in the dark,” Vihaan Verma tells Startup Pedia.

THE PAIN POINT FOR B-SCHOOL ASPIRANTS

For starters, Vihaan and Arnav began looking at mock interviews offered by GDPI institutes.

The problem? They didn't seem to translate well to real interview situations.

“Most resources on the Internet focus on helping us prepare for expected interview questions, not dynamic follow-ups,” young entrepreneur Arnav Jain explains.

“The truth is, interview panels judge a student not just on correctness, but also on clarity of thought, consistency, and thought process. And for that, they ask a lot of unpredictable follow-up questions,” Vihaan adds.

The young entrepreneurs did explore other options: paid mock interviews, GPT-based interview models, and human mentors.

All of them were either too expensive or just generic in nature.

In December 2025, Vihaan got an idea to build an AI tool that could stimulate real-life interviews and dynamic follow-ups.

“Initially, I decided to build it only for personal use. But Arnav convinced me that if we were struggling with interview preparation, loads of other students would also be sharing the same problem. So we decided to build it for every B-school aspirant out there,” Vihaan Verma shares.

This was the foundation of InterviewPrep in 2025.

Different Modes of InterviewPrep

THE JOURNEY: HOW INTERVIEWPREP WAS DEVELOPED

InterviewPrep started with a small bootstrapped amount of Rs 550, which went into buying the domain. For the rest of the development, Vihaan Verma and Arnav Jain used their free DigitalOcean credits.

The young entrepreneurs built a proprietary fine-tuned model that is trained using real MBA interview transcripts.

“There is a retrieval layer that we have added that pulls from a large database of 200+ real MBA interview questions stored in Pinecone,” young entrepreneur Arnav Jain explains.

“And the fine-tuning ensures that the model knows and mimics how MBA interview panels usually frame questions, ask follow-ups, and evaluate behavioural depth of students,” Vihaan Verma says.

On InterviewPrep, questions are not regenerated every single time. Instead, they adapt to the conversation, behaviour, and previous answers of the student.

A key product decision that the young entrepreneurs took was to support both voice and text responses on the AI tool InterviewPrep.

This makes it easy for students to practice their verbal skills as well as prepare even at times when speaking aloud isn't really possible. For instance, in public spaces, during late-night hours, or while travelling.

INTERVIEWPREP: MAKING B-SCHOOL ASPIRANTS STRESS-FREE ABOUT UNPREDICTABILITY

Currently, InterviewPrep combines a fine-tuned language model, real interview data retrieval, and flexible response formats to create a realistic and accessible interview preparation experience.

It is a Progressive Web Application that works smoothly across desktops and mobile devices.

The user journey for the free AI tool is fairly simple:

  1. The first step is the onboarding process, where the candidate uploads their resume.

“A core part of the AI system that we've built is automatic resume parsing. Relevant information from the resume is extracted, so the interview experience is deeply contextual and personalized for each candidate. The generic gap that we mentioned earlier? That immediately gets solved,” Arnav Jain explains.

  1. Post this, users can select between two modes: the Practice Mode and the Focused Mode.

  • The Practice Mode is designed to help candidates explore different conversation directions and strengthen individual answer areas. Each questions is asked based on the candidate's specific profile.

Just like how real interviewers ask follow-up questions, InterviewPrep poses three different follow-up directions based on the individual’s answer.

“Now, the student can select which follow-up path they want to hone and practice. Then they can easily explore and dive deeper into that specific realm, be it technical knowledge, situational reasoning, or motivation,” Vihaan Verma shares.

Additionally, each response to the follow-up question leads to structured and specific feedback offered by the AI tool.

  • The Focused Mode simulates a real MBA interview, without giving users the option to control or choose the follow-up directions. InterviewPrep dynamically adapts and poses follow-up questions and conversation directions based on the user's responses.

With the Focused Mode, students get in touch with the unpredictability and stress of a real MBA panel interview. With this, users have the option to respond via voice or text transcription.

“Interviews are synonymous with stress. But when you train yourself every day to handle that stress, it eventually becomes cakewalk for you. That's exactly what we are aiming for with InterviewPrep,” Arnav notes.

EARLY MOMENTUM

The artificial intelligence tool, InterviewPrep, was officially launched on 16th January 2026.

However, early access was made available on 26th December 2025. The pilot launch gave young entrepreneurs Arnav Jain and Vihaan Verma significant feedback, which they implemented before officially launching InterviewPrep.

“Our first batch of users loved the tool, but wanted more intensity in terms of stimulating a real MBA panel interview. So we worked on improving the AI tool’s contextual intelligence and conversation depth. We have now revamped it into a more nuanced model that mimics real interview-level probing,” Arnav Jain says.

To date, the AI tool has witnessed 107+ registered users, with 143+ interviews already conducted on the platform.

“Our mission is simple: offer a structured learning environment to B-school aspirants. The stress around interview preparation needs to be taken off everyone's plates. With InterviewPrep’s real simulations, students can not just make peace with unpredictability but also train for it,” Vihaan Verma concludes.
