Delhi Man Quits Job & Builds His Own IT Services Firm; Clocks Rs 100 Cr In Revenue

Business World recently reported that the Indian IT services market witnessed a 6.1 percent increase in 2023. It reached a market size of USD 14.5 billion.

As companies are increasing their reliance on external IT partners, service providers are emerging and adding significant value. In a space where Information Technology companies take at least a period of 15 to 20 years to reach the Rs 100 crore revenue mark, an IT firm started by Jagdish Bhatt, a native of Uttarakhand, has achieved the milestone in just seven years.

Founded in 2017 in Singapore, NewGen IT Technologies Limited is an IT solutions and services provider that offers end-to-end IT Infrastructure Managed services, cybersecurity solutions, and application services. Its clientele runs across multiple industries and businesses operating in 25+ countries.

The company has direct operations spread out in India, Singapore, Hong Kong, Australia, the United Arab Emirates, the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom.

HOW IT ALL BEGAN

Jagdish Bhatt’s family comes from the town of Almora in Uttarakhand. His father shifted the family to Delhi and took up a job in a government hospital in Delhi.

Jagdish was born and brought up in Delhi where he completed his schooling from a Government school. Right after finishing school, he landed a gig as a commercial assistant and started his graduation degree from Delhi University.

After finishing his graduation he completed his MBA and a diploma in computer hardware and networking to gain technical knowledge.

Jagdish started his professional career in 1986 with Punj Sons and became a part of the company’s commercial team.

In an exclusive interview with Startup Pedia, Jagdish Bhatt says, “I worked at Punj Sons for about 8 and a half years. From handling customer orders, processing them, and looking after dispatches, I did it all. I then joined the USHA group and Altos for some time.”

It was in 1996 that Jagdish joined an Indian IT company as a commercial executive, marking the beginning of what would lead to a 20+ year tenure with the company.

During the two decades, he became part of various departments to manage domestic and global roles and responsibilities. He then moved to Singapore to manage a regional role and to support sales operations.

He says, “I had gathered a lot of experience all those years. I now wanted to build something of my own in the IT field. I have always been curious about innovation and it has become kind of a principle for me. I knew that whatever I would offer to the market, it would affirm innovation and efficiency.”

So Jagdish Bhatt, without any guidance or experience in the entrepreneurial world, quit his high-paying job in Singapore and founded NewGen IT Technologies Limited in 2017.

Soon, the company got its first contract from a US-based company. Jagdish, and a small team he had brought together, provided IT support services to clients at their offices in 19 countries for a period of 12 months.

The company then started spreading its direct units in 7+ countries and soon started its operations in India, Singapore, Hong Kong, Australia, the United Arab Emirates, the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom. 

NewGen IT Technologies then went on to secure numerous alliance partnerships with various OEMs and signed multi-million- and multi-year contracts with various customers in India, Singapore, and the USA. The team implemented various innovative solutions successfully and started gaining clients’ trust.

ROADBLOCKS

When Jagdish Bhatt was building his company, he came across a few times when his financial situation would be very tight. But he preserved and not just sustained but also kept growing his venture.

He tells Startup Pedia, “I had started with a completely bootstrapped approach. There were times when there were financial crunches and the salaries of my staff would be at stake. But with God’s grace, I would manage to pay them. My core team is honestly the backbone of NewGen IT.”

In the Informational Technology field, clients need the service provider to bring some credibility to the table. But how does a newly launched company offer that?

Jagdish says that urging clients to place faith in him was one of the most humbling moments of his life. 

“I have always let my actions do the talking. In business, when you show results, they become the base on which people trust you. That’s what NewGen IT did when we were growing. And we still take commitment and ethics very seriously,” he adds.

NEWGEN IT TECHNOLOGIES LIMITED: A REVOLUTION

NewGen IT Technologies offers a comprehensive suite of IT solutions that meet the evolving technological needs of businesses.

Jagdish says, “We had to cater to a system of 3000 users and 300 servers. Engineers were working remotely at the time but some of them went to the individual users and implemented the IT procedures. That remains one of my favourite examples when I talk about the commitment ethic of NewGen IT.”

Apart from offering end-to-end IT solutions and services to businesses and organizations, NewGen IT Technologies is also working on its own software development.

For instance, the company is working on a software that uses 256-bit encryption keys and ensures that the user data is completely secured. 

It has also signed a partnership to provide surveillance solutions through advanced and innovative technology to the Defence & Armed Forces of India.

Jagdish says, “I want NewGen IT and its India unit to be a part of the Make-in-India initiative. We want world-class software to come out indigenously.”

GROWTH 

In the last 8 years of operating in India, NewGen IT Technologies has achieved a total revenue of Rs 100 crore. Its global revenue for FY24 was USD 15 million.

The firm has seen consistent growth in global revenue numbers with USD 9 million in FY23, and USD 7.5 million in FY22.

They include leading businesses and MNCs in BFSI, Oil and Energy, IT & Telecommunications, Power & Gas Exchange, FMCG, Hospitality & Wellness, Retail, Mining, Consumer, Real Estate, Education, Pharma, BPO,  Logistics, Judiciary, Defence, Armed Forces & Police, IPR & Legal, etc.
