Peyush Bansal-led Lenskart makes a muted market debut; lists nearly 3% below issue price at ₹395 on NSE despite ₹1 lakh crore bids

Lenskart shares opened lower than the IPO price of ₹402, listing at ₹395 on NSE and ₹390 on BSE. Despite strong demand, grey market signals and high valuation led to a weak debut.

India’s eyewear retailer, Lenskart Solutions, had a quiet start on the stock market on Monday, November 10, 2025.

The company’s shares listed at ₹395 on the National Stock Exchange (NSE) and ₹390 on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), nearly 3% lower than the issue price of ₹402.

This came as a surprise to many investors after the IPO received strong demand during the subscription phase.

Lenskart IPO listing price: Why shares opened at a 3% discount to the issue price

Lenskart’s IPO was one of the most popular issues of the year, subscribed nearly 28 times and attracting bids worth over ₹1 lakh crore.

Despite this, the grey market premium, which often shows how investors expect the listing to perform, dropped sharply just before trading began. This decline was an early sign that the listing could be weak.

Market experts said the main reason behind the dull start was the company’s high valuation. Many felt that while the brand is strong, the issue price left little scope for short-term gains.

An analyst explained that investors are becoming cautious with richly priced IPOs after seeing similar patterns in recent listings.

Lenskart’s co-founder and CEO, Peyush Bansal, stayed upbeat despite the soft debut. Before the listing, he wrote on social media, “It feels like day zero, not day one,” showing confidence in the company’s long-term goals.

The 3 percent discount listing, however, underlined that even well-known brands can face a reality check when valuations are stretched and the market turns selective.

Lenskart share price outlook: Should you hold or sell after listing

Experts are divided on what investors should do next. Those who believe in Lenskart’s long-term growth may consider holding on, given the company’s strong market position, expanding retail network, and growing international reach.

Short-term traders, on the other hand, might choose to book profits if the stock struggles to move above its issue price.

Analysts said India’s eyewear sector offers large potential, but Lenskart must keep improving margins and show steady profits to justify its valuation. “The business is strong, but the pricing was aggressive,” said one brokerage report.

In simple terms, Lenskart’s 3 percent discount listing shows that even big IPOs can open lower when the pricing looks tight.

With Peyush Bansal leading the company, the long-term outlook stays positive, but investors will need patience to see meaningful returns.
