Reflecting on His Journey So Far
Byju Raveendran’s journey from a small village in Kerala to leading one of India’s most successful edtech companies has been incredibly inspiring. In his post, he reflected on his upbringing, stating that he never saw his circumstances as a disadvantage. Instead, growing up in a village instilled in him an “unshakable resilience” and a “deep-rooted sense of community.”
“It’s why my heart will always be in the right place. That upbringing prepared me for everything that would come later in my life. It prepared me to face the highest of highs and the lowest of lows with the same humility and grit,” he shared.
Drawing inspiration from a Malayalam proverb, he wrote, “Theeyil kuruthathu veyilathu vaadilla,” which translates to “What is tempered by fire will not wilt under the sun.” The phrase validates his belief that challenges and hardships only make a person stronger.
He also recalled how people once marveled at his successes but now question his losses. However, he believes the answer to both remains the same—his lifelong dedication to education.
“My parents were teachers. I am a teacher. My life’s work is teaching. And those who dedicate themselves to learning and teaching don’t measure success in wins or losses,” he wrote.
Despite the difficulties, Raveendran remains steadfast in his mission. He assured supporters that he would continue working until “the wrongs are righted, and the mistakes are corrected.” His message suggests a renewed focus on rectifying past missteps and steering BYJU's toward a more sustainable future.
“I will keep on keeping on,” he concluded, reinforcing his commitment to rebuilding BYJU’s.
