Bengaluru techie shares fake Aadhaar and PAN cards created by Google Gemini’s Nano Banana Pro
A Bengaluru tech developer has shown how easy it is to create fake Aadhaar and PAN cards using Google’s new image tool, Nano Banana Pro.
His post on X (Twitter) shocked many users because the cards looked almost real, even though they were made for a fake person.
Gemini’s Nano Banana Pro Makes Fake Aadhaar and PAN Cards
Harveen Singh Chadha shared two ID cards generated using Google Gemini's Nano Banana Pro. The cards were for an imaginary person, yet the layout, fonts, photos, and small details looked close to real Aadhaar and PAN formats.
He wrote on X:
“Nano Banana is good but that is also a problem. It can create fake identity cards with extremely high precision. The legacy image verification systems are doomed to fail. Sharing examples of pan and aadhar cards of an imaginary person.”
Many users said that even though the cards had a Gemini watermark, someone could hide it before printing. Reports also pointed out that the tool can create sharp text and faces, which makes the output look even more real.
One user replied under the post:
“Scanning the QR on the Aadhaar and actually verifying it will start becoming the norm soon … because of this.”
Another user called it a 'New startup idea'. This reflects a rising concern: simple eye checks of ID cards may soon be unsafe as AI tools get better.
How to Stop Misuse of AI-Generated Fake IDs
Experts say India needs stronger ID checks, especially for banks, KYC, telecom, and online services. Some key steps include:
Use QR code checks on Aadhaar
Aadhaar has a secure QR code linked to the UIDAI database. Scanning this code should be a standard step instead of relying on the card photo alone.Add live face or fingerprint match
A short video or selfie match stops people from using fake cards during KYC steps.Use tools that detect hidden AI marks
Google adds a hidden mark called SynthID in AI-made images. Companies can use scanners that detect this mark when users upload IDs.Set rules to restrict AI tools from making ID cards
Platforms may need limits that block creation of government ID formats directly.
The Bengaluru techie’s post has made one thing clear: AI tools are now strong enough to create fake IDs that look close to real ones. This puts banks, delivery services, telecom firms, and everyday users at risk if they rely only on visual checks.
The solution lies in better tech, better rules, and a more careful approach to identity checks in the digital age.
